I am listening to my son on the HS radio station. He is part of a discussion panel. You will never believe the topic–this is slated to go for 2 hours.
It’s the Pokemon hour, extended for 2 hours (I don’t know why). They have narrowed down the best team to 6 and are now discussing (quite solemnly) the various characteristics of the trainers.
I am rolling with laughter, but I think they’re actually serious about it all. They sound like pundits on Sunday morning talk shows. “Good point, Brian.” “Well, like our resident expert said, I feel that…” etc.
I peek in there at least weekly, but it’s not fun for me, so I don’t hang around. Plus with all the construction we’ve been doing, I only have so many minutes to waste. In fact, I’m supposed to be in the basement painting right now - as soon as the kid finishes eating, we’re going to start edging the ceilings. woohoo!
Busy day at work, which is good - it makes time move faster. I was waiting for **FCD **to pick me up when my boss walked out and gave me grief (I love my boss) as he headed to his car. When I got into my Scion, my sweetie drove up to Al and said “Hey, you want me to slap her around a little?” To which my boss responded, “She’s a pain in my ass!” Yeah, I feel loved.
Former houseguest arrived safely in England this morning. She was a delight to have here, but I’m glad I don’t have to cook veggie any longer.
Well, time to paint. yay. Back later. Maybe. <sigh>
Except for rigs I bet that is a hoot. Who knows maybe he’ll grow up to be one of those hosts of those Sunday morning news shows that everybody says they watch but don’t.
All the ceiling edging is done - it took the 2 of us about an hour. It helps that we didn’t have to be neat since the walls aren’t painted yet. Tomorrow, with luck, we’ll roll on the paint and the ceilings will be done. Which means this weekend, we do color! YAY!
Hey, Sean!!! How’s tricks?!?
I want cheesecake, too. swampy, if you’re really my friend, you’ll bring me some.
So tart is in the oven and nearly done, salad is prepped (though my beets came out underdone… dang), and dips have been snarfed down. My kitchen looks like it was hit by a tornado of dirty dishes, but I’ll impose on The Boy to take care of that later tonight… it’s only fair, considering I did all the cooking.
The boys are downstairs doing boy stuff in our rumpus room (they’re admiring The Boy’s knack for animating exploding heads). It’s very cute.
Hey Sean! It’s good to see you again, although I’m sorry to hear that Michigan brings up bad memories for you. Don’t be a stranger to the Mumpers any longer.
Add me to the list of those wanting cheesecake! Costco has a delicious pumpkin cheesecake; it’s only available in the fall, I think. Say, that pumpkin cake recipe looks good in the mean time, though, thanks Taxi. Muppet, how’d you cook your beets? Have you ever tried roasting them? I love beets, btw.
Poor SpecialOne! At least it’s almost your weekend, right? And I hope CutiePie is feeling better tonight. Which reminds me, where the heck is Beebs at?! LOL
::waves to Sean:: Where ya been, buuuh-dee?
who is “Eats_Crayons”?
weird dreamage during nap (I stayed home again today - my back has been spasming since I got back from Joisey) I was on a cruise ship that had no staircases, only slippery ramps, that if you weren’t careful, separated from the platforms to which hey led. So there I was trying to climb up onto this platform and having the devil of a time, and William Shatner came over and got down on all fours so his back was like a tabletop, and said “climb up on me”. No, I hadn’t taken any drugs before the nap.
Dinner is cooking away as I type. It should be done in 10 minutes or so.
Okay, I’m beginning to wonder why I even bothered showing up to work this week. I still have issues with a data mining system, it turns out some of the data I sent out utilizing it was bad, and now I have to fix two entire databases tomorrow. That’s assuming we can get the one data mining system to work and get access to tables that we used to have, but somehow lost access to in the last couple of weeks. Furthermore, I’ve got to write down to San Antonio to even get the access because the local contractors up here can’t help me. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Most of all, I’m kicking myself damn hard because I knew deep down the data couldn’t be correct, but I sent it anyway because I felt so bad about making the requester wait. Fortunately, he hadn’t had a chance to look at it, but is cool with the fact that I caught the error and warned him not to use.
I don’t think **Eats Crayons **has posted on the Dope in years (like maybe since shortly after I joined). She stops by Skip’s place every few months though.
Hope everyone is doing better today. How much longer is the work stress going to continue, SO?
Did I remember to thank swampy for the MSU fight song? Now, where *have *my manners gotten to? ::Looks around desperately.:: Nope, not here. to olives and LOUNE Oh, yeah: thanks swampy!!!
I wanna go to Italy too. Will you be hosting an MMP so that you can regale us with stories from your trip, Puggy? Which reminds me that I don’t think we ever actually got to MamaT’s travel stories…still waiting patiently…
beebs is busy being a smartypants (NOS) in my thread about what to put on the new laptop. Other Mumper suggestions are welcome. (I’m considering his suggestion as wallpaper… :D)
I’m back at the dinosaur while AdAware runs on the new machine. I can hardly wait to be able to listen to my regular podcasts (yes, it’s only German news, but it’s seemed odd not to have it going in the background).
Made Death Chicken for dinner, following the recipe pretty exactly, except that for some reason there is no such thing around here as bacon that isn’t smoked, so there was that. Anyway, it was pretty good, but we took a vote and decided next time - no paprika, curry powder instead. Also Wifey wants to add spinach.
That wasn’t a dream Rosey, he does that to everybody.
Somebody has a birthday tomorrow! Someone named Herbs!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERBS!
I guess I have nothing exciting to report, yet again. I need some fun and excitement in my life; like going to Italy. I’d love to see Rome, but I’m more interested in the Tuscan region.
Oh…almost forgot: when I was stuck without a working laptop today (at work!), I thought of you, Taters. My boss’s secretary summoned help for me, so they started working on it quickly, but apparently it’s a toughie. Two of our best guys spent the afternoon trying to figure out why it hates me. I resorted to using someone else’s PC…
We just finished chowing down on a batch of Yard Bird of Death.
I used thighs with skin on and bones in 'em and it was very tasty.
My So and her 24 yo son are very picky chicken eaters and they both loved it.
I was very happy with the results and I look forward to left-overs for lunch tomorrow.
I have made a similar dish w/o the bacon or spices in the soup mix and this recipe is definitely better. mmmmm I are stuffed
Thanks Rigs!
Baileys coffee and chocolate chips cookies for desert. Life is good
Oh, I love New Jersey, that suburban hell you describe, I love even that. New York State is absolutely gorgeous and there are parts of New Jersey that are equally beautiful.
I wasn’t trying to put down the East Coast, which I truly adore… I’m just saying Michigan is my home. I know it intimately in a way that I may never know New York or New Jersey. I was never a child on the East Coast. I was a child in Michigan.
