Talk to me about Spyro Gyra folks!

I happened to catch a performance by the group on Sunday night–I don’t know what show it was, but boy was Spyro Gyra jamming! Unfortunately, I very vaguely remember this group from the late 70s, so would someone kindly fill me in on them, please? I would greatly appreciate it!

Ooh I remember Spiro Gyra. I loved making pretty patterns with those funny wheel things!

OK, perhaps you could try this site!

Morning Dance is my favorite of theirs. It’s probably one of their first popular tunes. Very upbeat.

Thanks for the site, Celyn, but actually I’d already been to their website (which I should have mentioned in the OP). What I wanted to hear was some opinions from the SDMB folks.

I wish I’d been paying more attention to the introduction on that show the other night, because whatever song it was they played, they were just jamming, especially the sax guy (who appears to be one of the original members of the group). So I don’t know what the name of the tune was; it was great though.
