How about this ?
Bwahaha. Can you hear the conversations between couples now?
Hey, honey, how about a little oral lovin?
No, didn’t you hear, it causes throat cancer!
OK, way to scare me…
On further review, it seems that the cancer occurs due to the HPV virus and the higher risk is associated with women who give head to at least 6 partners. I am assuming the increased risk is associated with the odds of one’s partners having HPV.
So, guys, unless you’re worried about being able to obtain a BJ from someone who’s been slurping at least a half dozen other dude’s possibly infected tools, you’re probably OK.
And ladies, it’s quite alright to continue giving your uninfected partners reason to go on living. Nothing to see here…
Hmmm. So having sex with six men or more in a lifetime makes a woman a slut? That would seem to be the implication here.
Actually, they were very nonspecific about the risks, activities and sex of those deemed to be at risk - 6 oral sex partners (sex unspecified) was the phrase used. Are the risks of MoF and FoF oral sex the same as FoM and MoM oral sex. Does the degree of penetration (ie deep throating) have a bearing of the risk factors. And how does this new risk compare with risk from HPV infection from genital sex (ie how many partners increases the risk of cancer via HPV infection for cervical cancer).
Does this point to a possible risk from HPV triggered rectal cancer and anal sex, too.
Lots of new questions to be answered, but certainly indicates that eliminating HPV may become more important in the future.
Si
** Dolukhanova**, where in Akry’s quote did he:
- specify that it was a woman (he said “someone”) or;
- say that it makes someone a “slut”?
My read on his statement was, “If you have been getting unprotected head from someone who was gone down on everything except the Titanic, you might need to be a little concerned.”
If this study is accurate, then wouldn’t the porn industry be filled with woman afflicted with throat cancer? Statistically, they should be really skewing the curve.
Oh, I thought they were talking about at one time.
I think I heard a survey that said that women that have multiple partners in a lifetime (I think the number was 6 again) increase their odds of getting cervical cancer. This was something like a couple years ago and I started wondering about other weird little correlations, like how porn gals could possibly be skewing this study to one side dramatically.
With a little bit of Googling, it looks like women that have sex with a guy that’s had many partners are also at an increased risk.
Well, that sucks.
Right. Not calling someone who’s had that many partners a slut, just remarking that it’s perhaps more the statistical norm that someone in a committed relationship wouldn’t necessarily have to worry about this particular risk as much as someone who’s still playing the field.
Also, I didn’t consider the 6 partners as being a lifetime number but more of a “lately” number. Probably not a correct consideration in the case of HPV, though, as that stuff tends to hang around a long time.
SIX is considered a lot of partners??? (or “gone down on everything but the Titanic…”)??? WTF??
Oh, and ha ha, Tuckerfan!
who said censorship was bad?. Somebdy buy that guy’s lab and close it down.
It blows, too.
I am SO hiding this entire bit of the internet from my wife.
Jeebus, what’s next? Hand cancer?
All the more reason to be in favor of the HPV vaccine.
Can’t we all just agree to replace the word “slut” with “friendly” to avoid this sort of confusion?
What? I was friendly!
You can bet my husband has already gotten that link. I’m waiting for him to send me back 1001 Benefits Of Giving Head.
Seriously.
I mean that if the stats are true and your sexual partner has basically blown every guy in the 7th Fleet, then you might want to be concerned about what might come your way. This is true for any sexual relationship and includes all manner of STDs.
Personally, I don’t have to worry about giving my wife cancer from BJs. The last one I got was before Clinton made BJs front page news.
