Can’t be there 'cause of work :(. Someone drink a Screwdriver (or at least something with Vodka in it :D) for me!
BTW, for those of us who remember when TruePisces was a Tampa Bay area Doper, her husband (Verrain) successfully defended his thesis yesterday in Philly. Woo hoo!
Dan no va con nosotros. Él tiene que trabajar. , pero pienso ir al museo y al cenar, porque creo que sería bien ver mis amigos del SDMB. So, I will be sending an e-mail right after I post this, and also, my vote is for somewhere down in Pass-a-Grille because I think the area is really pretty most of the time.
Wait. :smack: :smack: :smack: I’ve been doing Spanish homework all day and I think it’s bleeding into my brain.
“Dan no va con nostros. Él tiene que trabajar. :(, pero pienso ir al museo y al cenar, porque creo que sería bien ver mis amigos del SDMB.” = Dan’s not going with us. He has to work. :(, but I plan to go to the museum and to dinner, because I think it’d be good to see my SDMB-friends.
I’m a third of the way through my second semester, but languages are kinda my thing. Manchmal, spreche ich mir auf deutsch, und ich hab’ keine deutsche Klassen seit der Hochschule gehabt – neune Jahr. I’ll find myself at work directing a couple of other associates, and I realize that the looks on their faces are because they have no idea what I’m saying. However, I’m really unpracticed at listening, so I can’t say I really speak German.
Spanish, though, I’m picking up pretty well. It’s easier to expose myself to Spanish, because of where we live and because of the ease of getting Spanish-language music and television. And I had just gotten home from work, where I spent about an hour or so chatting with some of my Cuban and Dominican coworkers, who I tell to speak to me in Spanish (slowly) unless it’s extremely important, so I can practice my listening. Then, I did some homework (we’re starting on the subjunctive) and I didn’t switch contexts before I posted.
Well, I wasn’t able to get on line last night or this morning but I wouldn’t have been able to make it to a meet up anyway. Where’d you guys end up going?
I had a very nice time meeting all of you and look forward to our next get together. Everyone had a wonderful personality and I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet each of you.
The weather was nice, compared to what northerners are dealing with at the moment. We had some rain earlier in the day, but it cleared up before dinner. We ate outside on the deck and the view was very pretty.
We FINALLY got back home last night. What a trip !!
Anyway, I really enjoyed meeting Ravenous Lady, BrainGlutton and Shibb0leth. Thanks to y’all for a good time at the restaurant (by the way, we went to Yabba Dew). It was a neat little place to people-watch. This area would be an excellent place for a pub crawl.
Thanks are also in order to Bambi for taking us to the museum and on a tour around the St. Pete area, including scooting across the Sunshine Skyway bridge.
If any of y’all are ever in the Jackson, Miss. area, look us up. We’d love to reciprocate.
