I know, I know–he who brings it up first organizes it. Eh. Maybe I’ll step up to the plate on that one, maybe I won’t. First I’d like to know what y’all are interested in doing, and where we’d like to get together again.
We’ve done the Universal thing, the museum thing, the Block at Orange thing. Shall we venture further south, for a San Diego thing? Or, an arboretum thing? Or (heh heh) a Santa Anita thing? A movie + dinner/discussion thing?
Y’all are neat and stuff. I’d like to get together again and shoot the breeze (no semi-automatic weapons for that, though).
Besides, then I can show off my new high-heel black boots.
Racing is where its at. I love to go and see the pretty horses and watch my pretty money go elsewhere. I think that would be a great place to get together.
I am glad you brought this up, Ruffy. I was just talking to Spoofy last night about how he has been missing too many of the SoCal gettogethers, I didn’t even know he lived in the Valley.
I am open for whatever you decided to do, although, I have to say San Diego would be a bit of a long haul, not that I wouldn’t do it, just saying is all.
Speaking of non long hauls, what happened to my fellow Ventura/Santa Barbara County Dopers. Maybe while the big SoCal fest is being planned we should put our minds together and plan one for us far out folks?
Whatever the case may be, I look forward to seeing everyone again.
Santa Barbara is a bit of a drive for me–it’s actually further than San Diego by about an hour. But, I spent the second half of my growing-up years in Ventura County, and know my way around fairly well. Don’t know much of what’s interesting over there…plenty of malls and movie theaters, and there’s the Ventura Harbor, but nothing is jumping out saying “Ooh! There’s this thing we can do!” Am I brain-farting? Anyone from Ventura county wanna speak up here?
Just FTR, the Santa Anita “Oak Tree” meet starts Wednesday, October 1st. My friend’s best horse is running in a stakes on the 14th, but other than that, I’m open. (I think Tuesday is the racing “dark” day–but who’ll be able to take a day off work and spend the day at the track on those days, anyway?) Saturday and Sundays are always good racing days. The Oak Tree meet is a short one–closing day is Monday, November 6th.
I’ll be back in town on October 6th. (I am a native Angeleno, moved out-of-state a few years ago.) I return home regularly. If your DopeFest is scheduled during my visit, I’ll try to be there!
Oi! Another get-together sounds like fun! I’ll be in Seattle November 11-19. (I’m planning to move in January. No definite date yet though.) I promised Melin I’d attend another Dopefest before I move.
I have NO life, I have NO money, and this is the first time in three weeks I’ve had time to get on the message board.
I desperately want to see you people IRL again. Can someone keep me posted on the where/when of it all? I’d love a San Diego meeting (how about the zoo?). Oh, and I’ve got a present for pricciar.
Hey Suo, there’s an idea–I happen to love old town Pasadena. There are dozens of places we could meet on Colorado Blvd., and there’s all kinds of entertainment. How’s that sound, folks?
I think Old Town Pasadena is a great idea–there are several great restaurants and bars in the area, plus plenty of places to go strolling around. Gordon Biersch may be a good place to meet–it’s tucked behind some of the shops on Colorado, but it’s huge and with a nice patio outside. I’m saying this place, because some of the other places have lines that will wrap around the corner to get in, like Moose McGillicuddy’s or The Muse. (I go to school in the area, so I’m pretty familiar with Colorado Boulevard) Twin Palms is a possibility, but it’s a little pricy, and gets really loud on the weekends, or we can go with my after-school hangout, Clearwater, if you’re into seafood (and very good cocktails).
We can also just go for a pub crawl and have a stop at every watering hole there.
That’s a lotta Dopers…any Furries out there, as well? (If you don’t know–don’t ask–it takes awhile to explain. ) I usually only head down in that area when I’m out to visit the Furries I know out there.
Is Southern California equipped to handle a 21st Doper? The city might not be big enough to handle them all!
I’d be interested in going to a Dopefest. I don’t really -know- any of you yet–but shyea–why not? I need excuses to get out of the house more. 'sides–I’d like to -meet- some of you.
I’m of legal age–if that’s a concern at all. My 18th was last July.
Java: How many muses are there? There’s a place called “The Muse” about two blocks from where I work, but it’s a wee little place… Not that that’s a bad thing - in fact I think it’s pretty cool - but somehow I doubt it’s the one you were talking about. “Mine” is on Sawtelle and Olympic, how’s about yours?
