Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater Dopefest - Anyone?

58th Street and 147th Ave North. About 3/4 mile behind the ICOT Center.

I agree with the beach pavilion/cookout idea. Maybe we can do a potluck meal/BBQ, and then beach volleyball, frisbee, etc? Fort Desoto might be ideal for that - we can even get campsites there at night, if we want. I think that would be fun.

If we’re planning an outside event, should be shoot for later in the year when it gets cooler? Maybe do a pre-planning dinner/get-to-know ya thing first?

Dave’s bio-mom. She doesn’t post anymore. Actually, I believe she may have posted once or twice only, but reads. She lives in Lakeland. Has met Bluesman - they got along like a house afire.

I appreciate the offer, but it won’t be anytime soon. You guys have a good time and post some pictures. When/If it gets closer to the time I’m getting out of here, I let everyone know and we can have another big dopefest.

Look, you’re going to have to be in a social setting with the two of us some time. Don’t think I don’t notice you dodging me on Mondays…

That would be cool! From what Bluesman says, I’d love to meet her.

Is some momentum gathering for a beach park setting? I’ll volunteer to look into likely places, if so.

Bonus Mom (bonusmom? I can’t remember which) will be up here June 24-28. When is this looking to happen?

Depending on what date it is, Flander and I may be able to make it. We’re both in Miami, and we love Thai food!

It seems that a potluck cookout seems to be the venue of choice. I’ve heard Fort Desoto mentioned a few times but I personally have never been there. Can we reserve space or is it first come first serve? If someone could look into that we can possibly get something going. Also we will need a date. I suggest something far out enough so that everyone that wants to come can have enough time to make plans. Any suggestions?

Mid 2006 sound good?

Dont give up now, guys! You’re so close.

Has there been any progress on scheduling and hosting this event?

Anyone?

I’ve been trying to dodge him and be around you. Not working so far. And where were either of you last Monday? I even called, for pity’s sake!

Ft. DeSoto is a possibility. I didn’t find a way to reserve picnic shelters online, but here’s a link to their “special events” page.

I don’t know if we have people coming from the south, but there are several coming from north of TB. There are parks a little more conveniently located for them, like Howard in Tarpon Springs, Philippe in Safety Harbor, maybe Caladesi (near Dunedin). Ft. DeSoto is fine for me and I like that park, just wasn’t sure if something else might be more central.

Mid September might be nice if we don’t have any hurricanes going on. Still warm enough to swim but possibly not as hot as July or August would be.

And someone is going to have to take the lead on organizing this. If not it won’t come off. I nominate Bluesman to bring his badass grill pack thing.

Who wants to be the leader of this group of misfits? Anyone? Anyone?

For this important role, I nominate Amp… all in favor?

AYE!

And I will be coming from south of Tampa if that influences the location any.

Where’s Caloosa?

Roughly centered on Lee County. To be specific, I’m coming from Fort Myers.

I wish I could say that’s an enthralling, picturesque drive.
There is a Ritter’s in Bradenton, a few exits before the bridge. Maybe you can pick us up a few quarts on the way up.

I just might. If I knew where to bring it or on what day.
