They’re right about the weather, though. The highs this week are all over the map – 69, 53, 55, 61, 70 for the next 5 days. Still, the beach is pretty, and sunset on the beach on a clear day is something not to miss.

You people crack me up. 53-70 degrees isn’t all over the map, it’s friggen perfection. I’ll be arriving with my earmuffs, scarves, and 36 other pieces of blizzard paraphenalia, just to get from my cab to the terminal, into 60s sunshine. I think I’ll be able to handle “all over the map.”
Usually some very nice sunsets in the “winter” as Bambi pointed out.

Actually, either end of my Tampa stay would be best, near the 12th or near the 23rd, since I may cruise around for a few days in the middle, to give my buddy a break from me and to visit friends in other parts of your fine state. If you want to name a time and place that works for you, I’ll be there.
Let’s get the ball rolling, y’all. I’m free tonight and next weekend (the 18th and 19th), but I work til eleven in Bradenton every other night. Since it’s heading back up into the 70s later in the week, I say we take him down to the beach for dinner at sunset. There aren’t many pretty things to look at around here, but there is that. Thoughts?
Oh, and pseudotriton, when I say cold, I mean < 70. You see, Floridians will die of exposure if left outside overnight in sub-70 temperatures. We’re a weak people when it comes to cold.

Ok, later in the week works better for me. I’m supposed to be a good dad and watch my sons baseball game tonight. It’s going to be cold so I’ll be the sole supporter from our family. Saturday night I am likewise booked but I could do Sunday. If you decide on the 18th then I’d be happy to meet up with PRR on a different night.
As to us being a weak lot, it’s true, but we also don’t wilt as easily in the hot sun. Or we know how to use air conditioning effectively, one or the other. I forget which.
Finally, our own beloved Bluesman is retiring from his first career this Friday so y’all should send him a note or something. And that means we might also be out somewhere on Friday night, although I’m a little hazy on details.

Well, since I’ve not been invited yet I don’t see the harm in inviting myself along for the ride, so, what are we doing and when? I am free Wednesday after like 8ish, and Friday night I’ll be at Bluesman’s retirement party. Saturday I’m 100% free so if we’re all not too terribly hungover from Friday night I’m down for a beach-dinner-thing.
BTW Shibb, have you found out if you’re giving me a ride to Tampa on Friday or not?

I haven’t done much research, how old is PRR anyway? I’d make some suggestions but I have no idea what kinds of activities would interest him.

It’s nice here. A girl in my friend’s evening class came in complaining about how horribly cold it is. I restrained myslf from laughing in her face.
But it’s 47 degrees outside! How did they live here before central heat?!
Of course, one of my favorite activities is watching the tourists wilt at 10p on a summer night when it’s 88 with 95% humidity, so it’s all about what you’re used to.
Oh, and checking the weather reports, you picked a good week to get out of the northeast, that’s for sure.
