Tax Day Cometh - are yours done?

I finished my Federal and State in early Feb, but just finished my local taxes yesterday.

How you coming with yours?

Did mine on Monday. I’m getting money back. I’m procrastinator but I did it before crunch-time this year because I’ve been on vacation the last week and I didn’t want it hanging over my head.

Already got the refund.

Done. Thank you, Turbo-Tax!

I never wait until the last minute. I filed my Federal tax Friday night using 1040nowonline. All those free file companies see to be too good to be true. Last year when I went back to the ripoffs I used the year before, they wanted to charge to pick up last years infor, W-2 addresses, etc. I forget who I used last year, but didn’t get a copy of the actual return, only a list of the 1040 lines and amounts. 1040 now waited until I did my state tax, and then demanded $17 to file it. The gotya always comes late in the process.

Had they been upfront about the fee, I might have gone ahead with it. Instead, I cut off my nose to spite my face. I downloaded paper forms and filled them out yesterday. Not mailed yet.

Fuck it, I’m getting an extension this year.

Finished a few weeks ago, already got my state refund back and expecting the federal this week.

Sadly, mine are done and I owe a shitload of money.

eFiled yesterday, fed return accepted. Wrote checks for Feds and state today, will mail tomorrow.

Couldn’t find anyone in Vancouver who could do even slightly complicated US taxes (self-employed, income from two countries). Our Canadian taxes are done, filed, letters of assessment received, and I’m hoping I can use them to fill out the 1040. My 1099s will have been sent to the IRS, but they have no way of seeing my T-4s (Canadian W-2 equivalents), so I’ll have to make a million copies and paper file. Ick. I’m not really planning on making the deadline: I understand there’s an automatic extension for filing from abroad?

I’ve been 90% done for a week. Having trouble with the figuring out working in one state and living in another. I just have to tweak it tonight.

Did them back in February. I’m a full-time student and my only source of income is my graduate assistantship stipend (plus student loans), so I got every dollar back. Huge refund is a big incentive to file quickly. I should just change my withholding so they don’t take out any taxes in the first place, but I’m graduating soon so it’s too late now anyway.

Got and spent my refunds months ago…

The exorbitant amount I pay an accountant to handle my business taxes includes one personal return, so mine were completed in a timely manner.

Left to my own devices I’d be looking for one receipt or form that I need to finish and racing to the PO minutes 'til the deadline.

My grandfather finished early one year, but still went to the post office late on April 15th to see all the neighbors he only saw once a year every year.

My first step was to download and print out the form to apply for an extension. That way I figured no matter what happened, I was covered.

ARRGH! I’m all done, but I had to go to a professional preparer. I’d been doing it myself for the last ten years…and… Sigh… I would appear to be an incompetent… Ten years of doing it all wrong…

The good news is that most of my errors were against my own interest, and the professional preparer, in fixing these, actually brought me a very nice chunk of refund…

It’s wonderful… I’m even incompetent at being incompetent!

Suburban Plankton did ours today. We are getting $61 bucks back from the state and owe the feds $114. That’s a close to perfect as we’ve ever gotten. The goal being $0 owed and $0 refund.

Being Canuck I’ve got til April 30th but finished them last week. They would have been in 6 weeks ago but we had to send a T4 back for correction. It was horribly horribly incorrect.

I just finished e-filing mine. I don’t know why I procrastinate, but I always do. But both federal and state were free and easy for me, so I should do them earlier next year. I owe no federal tax and am getting a small (read pizza money) refund from the state.

I got my federal refund 2 months ago. Just e-filed my State return tonight. Usually I’d have sent it off a lot earlier, but I ended up owing a little bit this year. So, I procrastinated. For some reason, when I changed my Federal withholding from 0 to 1 halfway through last year, my employer’s HR software thought I wanted to change my state withholding the same way. Not a big deal, just a <$20 underpayment in the end.

No local taxes here, thankfully. There were some in the last county I lived, though. That sucked.
