I’ve been wondering this, but I haven’t run across the answer. No pressure, just wishing you luck!
I quit every night between 11p and 6a.
Hah! I quit until 730am every day! (seriously, how do people smoke right after waking up. I’ve been a smoker for 15 years and can’t imagine doing that)
Crap. I light up before I even leave the bed. Morning pee and morning smoke - yee haw.
I hung around him yesterday and didn’t catch him smoking. He’s tricky though
I hope you don’t do *both *of those before you leave the bed.
I used to do that until I fell asleep with one on the go, and set the bed on fire.
Now, I get up, pee, go downstairs, make a coffee, then light up. The breakfast of champions!
Absolutely, and if you can twist in a shot of tequilla the day be looking bright.
I’ve quit several times now. It’s a bit of a struggle.
I didn’t smoke on our outing last night because I’m trying to get more comfortable with the idea of doing without for long periods of time. I think tomorrow I’ll try to get through the work day without smoking.
Good luck cuz it’s stinks going cold turkey.
It’s no kindness to hang a person slowly, either.
Agreed, I quite cold turkey on my 25th Birthday it’s been 12 years and I don’t regret it. If memory serves the first few months after you tend to hack quite a bit at night…
Cold turkey on Jan 1. It’s been remarkably easy for me this time, so I’m fairly certain the switch in my brain actually got flipped. I’m by no means saying that quitting is easy. It took me several test runs to finally get it, but cold turkey was best for me. Good luck when you get ready.
Reminds of the old joke about Mrs Peacock (very heavy smoking wife of a prominant politician in years gone by). Phone rings, Mrs Peacock answers it. “This is Channel 9, we’re doing an advert on the telly of Australia’s best dressed women, we’d like you to be in it.” Mrs Peacock answers “what time do I show up?” They answer “8.00am”, she replies, “Oh I couldn’t really - I don’t stop coughing until 11.00”. Boom boom. However, I’m a smoker (after 6.00pm only) and people frown and say “Did you smoke when you were pregnant?” and my reply is “He was 10lb one ounce when born - what the fuck do you think?!”
Congratulations to all of you who are trying. I probably quit ten times myself before it stuck.
