Wow, this is a blast from the past. I thought I was in high school when it came out, but apparently only my sister was.
I did wonder if people remained Team Jacob after he became abusive due to jealousy instead of the kind guy he was originally. And then, yeah, the whole imprinting thing.
Before then, it was just “kind, caring guy” vs “aloof stalker who spurned her affections” and yeah, I get going for the former, if you didn’t care about canon. (Surely even teens knew that canon was going to be Team Edward.)
Honestly, I continue to think Bella was too young, and no sign that any of the relationships were healthy enough for the type of lifelong commitment the author requires. I might even go Team Alice, if Jasper wouldn’t mind.
