Team Fortress 2

Yeah, yeah, late to the party as always, but it’s the game that broke my FPS cherry and I’m having the time of my life! I’m dotchan on Steam (current playstyle means I’m best at suicidal Pyro, though I do occasionally at least try the other classes and I’m getting better at being an Engineer and Medic) - is there a Doper Steam group, or does anybody else play?

The SDMB steam group page. I mostly play L4D but feel free to invite me into a game if you see me online. My Steam name is Matsar.

I just started playing last week, and man, I’m in love as well. I used to play TFC years ago, but this is like a more balanced version without all the grenade spam. I do really miss the Concussion jumping, but other than that, it’s essentially a perfect upgrade. I love playing as Spy, even though I’m still really bad at it. I’m getting better at setting myself up to get backstabs; I can sneak into the enemy base and follow an attacking group out the base, for example. However, when it comes to actually executing, I always seem to miss. It’s frustrating, but I think it’s just a matter of getting used to the hitboxes. And when you do connect with the back of someone’s head and then fade back to invisibility like a shadow in the night, you really do feel like a ninja.

How does the SDMB group work? Do you organize games or just randomly try to find each other online?

I was playing it before a cat pissed on top of my computer and it leaked down and burnt out my GTX285. I was rocking the scout on my favorite server was moving up the ranks in rushing yards. You just think your sentry covers things. You can use Bonk to have a sentry propel you really quickly in the direction you want to go.

Pretty much random. There’s nothing stopping people from trying to organize events. Maybe run it through the group admins first though.

EDIT: SDMB group is a great place to find mature players. I’ve yet to have a bad experience with dope players. And nobody’s going to kick you for being a “noob”, at least I wont.

Yeah I’ve been trying Scout out some more recently, and they’re a rush in those 5 Control Point maps, or any map where it’s not about choke points. I never realized how good they are in combat; the Scatter Gun is lethal against the lower HP classes at close range. With the speed it’s really easy to see an enemy and have him see you, fire a few shots and make him follow you, then scoot all the way around and attack him from the other side with some scatter shot at the back of his head. I’ve even been killing some Heavies that way, as they seem to have tunnel vision, and it’s quite possible to get four Scatter Gun shots at his back without him realizing it.

Whenever I switch to another class from Scout, my God, does everyone seem so slow.
