Here in the lovely city of Davenport we have a building that is a known crack house. I know it’s not the only one but it has been in the news alot lately.
And I know that tearing it down would probably only move these people closer to my area, but good Gods what has happened in the building in the past month is beyond belief!
We had a woman who was going to get her children taken from her because she was an addict.
So, let’s drop the children out the window to a waiting friend (sister?) and grandparent so they can kidnap them and leave the state with them! Sounds good to me.
And the latest…
As we sat around the tv on Wednesday waiting to see our children on television because it was walk safe to school day and our school is on the busiest intersection in the state of Iowa, they cut in with a special report of a child falling out a window.
15 months old and fell out the window from the third floor!
Holy freakin’ cow!
I know that I am not super mom or anything close but when my heathens were toddling I made sure that the edges of the second floor windows were not a place they could get to. We have four scary window in our upstairs. Old house so the windows aren’t too far off the floor.
I drive by this building on my way to work and it is horrible down there. Children playing darn near in the street which is four lanes of one way traffic, and parents or what have you just sitting there on the worn-out couch and on lawn chairs on the side walk not paying a bit of attention.
The police are always there.
And now I get to drive by it and see the police tape and know that a child died.
So, just out of curiosity I put “davenport iowa child” into GoogleNews, and up pops the headline, “Baby-death scene familiar to police”. Geeeeez, Kricket.
Thank you for finding that for me. BeagleDave usually helps me with my links since I am link impaired.
I suppose as and excuse to see the Walking One I could swing by his house and have him show me how to post links and other fun stuff.
BTW congrats on that Dave! Now all the fun starts!
Back to the OP that building just needs to go. But then again they just like roaches and other vermin they will find another neighborhood to inhabit and chances are it will be closer to me than I prefer.
Last weekend we had a guy rob the pizza place and tried to rob the KFC by our house and when he ran he hid out in the building where the little girl was shot and killed a few months ago.
What in the heck is happening to my neighborhood?
Has it always been this way and we are now just hearing more about it or is it actually getting worse?
Oh, and we did get to see our heathens on television! Full screen shot of our oldest son in a police car and distance shots of the youngest two at the Walk Safe parade.
