I am a DSL tech (until tuesday when I change jobs) and yesterday I was helping out running a utility program on about 100 computers. I was jumping from computer to computer and I was in the incoming call sales section when I overheard an agent laughing his ass off… when he got off the phone he told me that the person on the other end (seeking a fast DSL connection) asked him what kind of computer his Sega Dreamcast was!
Anyone who asks me a computer question will get a droll look.
Not that the question is in error, but that it’s silly to ask me anything about computers.
I may be on-line a bit, but this is my first and last computer, and if it has “components”, I would have no idea what or where they are.
Whammo, you do know that the Dreamcast can be used to connect to the Internet, right??? I did it with mine. ALso, you can connect a keyboard to the dc. The dreamcast has a 56k modem in it, its part of the original design. You can use netzero with the DC to get on the net for free too.
It’s a full functional computer.
Yes I DO know that and i’m sure a DSL connection would be nice… however, i’d like to see you do the instal.
When I was working the Installer Helpdesk Line I had a DSL installer (a field tech) call and tell me he needed an “unsuccessful install” close out ticket. When I asked him why he told me when the customer showed him what they wanted DSL installed on he had to tell them he couldn’t do it. It was WebTV. How that got through sales I have no idea.
Another one I got on the customer side I thought was kind of amusing though not really a stupid question if you don’t know. “The install instructions say I need 50 meg of free hard drive space. My computer says I have 30 gig. Is 30 gig more then 50 meg?”
