Techno-peasant wants music - again!

So, after a long time when I didn’t know how to make music come out of my iPhone, Mrs P said “What do you mean you don’t know how to get music?!?”

I said, “Is it something called iTunes?”

She said, “Good God!” grabbed my phone and installed a little red “Music” app. Apparently it’s a monthly subscription.

Now I have music. Yay!

But sound quality on the iPhone isn’t very good.

Are there higher quality speakers that you can buy and then link to ? So I have better ambient music in my sunroom?

Yes.
Just look for Bluetooth speakers.

Your iphone has Bluetooth, doesn’t it? (It may or may not have aptX HD, but whatever.)

So you could use any portable Bluetooth speakers. Or, if you already have a sound system but not Bluetooth, get a bluetooth dongle with an audio jack output.

Best Buy would have these Bluetooth thingamajigs?

Aye.

If you mean the dongle, I was talking about this kind of gadget:

So does Amazon. I have a little Altec Lansing that lives in my suitcase for tunes on the road.

But if you’re techno-feeble, you might get frustrated by the times you’ll have to re-link the Bluetooth. Maybe you’d rather just plug a good portable speaker into the headphone jack.

But you’re more techno than I am. I’m still using iTunes and loading my mp3s of Old Time Radio (and the Kingston Trio) onto my iPhone.

I don’t think an iphone has any headphone jack. So you could get an adapter for one, or get the dongle.

btw anybody have any good portable speakers to recommend, like this one

except that appears to be a DIY project

Borderline indestructible and good battery life.

All four of us in this household have different models of iPhones, all with headphone jacks.

Though, once I found good Bluetooth earbuds, I stopped using that jack.

(You might be right about new, high end phones, but we don’t upgrade all the time)

Snowproof is good for my specs. (Probably irrelevant to @silenus 's needs.)

:slightly_smiling_face:

My iPhone doesn’t have a headphone jack.

Mrs P has a set of earbuds, but we’ve not figured out how to make them work.

Late model iPhones don’t have a headphone jack. You either use Bluetooth or headphones with a lightning connector. You can also use an adapter.

Ultimate Ears also makes some pretty great little speakers that are drop resistant, water proof, and last 8+ hours on a charge. I bought SWMBO the WonderBoom 3 and it has worked out really well. Super easy to set up as well with the provided instructions.

Apple devices only support AAC or SBC.

The Apple lighting headphone dongle is around $8.00.

I have these BlueTooth speakers in my shower. They sound decent, are very waterproof (hence, shower), and the app makes them easy to pair and set up. You can also just get a single speaker instead of the pair.

Just look at how happy these people are!
