I’ll be out for a few days anyway on business travel, so no telling when I can get back to the SDMB. It’s all good. I think I’ve proven his logic wrong six ways from Sunday. We collectively have laid down enough ‘suppressive fire’ that he’s tucked tail and ran. Besides, in the back of my mind I’m telling myself (and I suspect there might be a few other Dopers saying), “Trip, man, he’s gone. You can quit laying-on with the machine gun fire. You’re just wasting ammo.”

True, but try to see it from SamuelA’s POV. He was right about everything he debated with everyone in this thread. He has plainly informed us that all you have to do is read the posts, and it’s so obvious! The fact that everyone here who has done so has come to the opposite conclusion is only evidence that we are all – every one of us – scientists, engineers, academics, and professionals though we may be – ignoramuses. We lack SamuelA’s giant throbbing brain to be able to see the obvious, a brain which is executing conditional branch statements with every throbbing pulse, according to SamuelA’s expert understanding of cognitive science.
So you see, Tripler, SamuelA leaves us not in defeat but in triumph. And therefore the appropriate tribute video in SamuelA’s own great mind, at least, is not the one you posted but this one, from the same film. One has to remember that true genius is often unappreciated in its own time, and SamuelA’s debating triumphs here should be recognized and applauded with immortal lines like these from that clip:

Meanwhile I note that the name “SamuelA” is well on its way to becoming an eponym, a generic designation for any bloviating pompous asshole who ignores overwhelming evidence, presents wrong and irrelevant blithering nonsense, and deflects arguments with even more irrelevancies in order to declare himself the triumphant victor of debate on a subject he knows nothing about.
