The Sacramento Bee this morning said that Cruz is having a hard time finding enough Republicans to pledge to him as delegates for the California primary. I would imagine it’s due to a lack of experienced Republican office holders and activists in the state because the Republican Party is so shattered.
When it turns out to be hush money.
You mean to hush the sex scandal? We’ll see what happens but is interesting that 2 of the women involved now seem connected to opposing campaigns.
Trump has always gone on to *marry *his mistresses.
Indeed. One of the women worked for the Fiorina campaign, in fact.
I mean, does this explanation for the money transfer make more sense than a simple sex scandal hush money transfer?:
“Keep the Promise I made the donation in June to Ms. Fiorina at that time because we thought she had important things to say that weren’t being heard, including her poignant and effective criticism of Mrs. Clinton, at the time, the likely Democratic nominee,” Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I told CBS News in an email.
Well “she had important things to say” could easily be seen as code for “we wanted a crowded field”. Gonna need more of a smoking gun than that, istm.
Agreed. I mean, the alternate hypothesis is that Cruz needed someone to spew crazy on Planned Parenthood, and wanted to keep Fiorina in the race. But, it’s a little piece of data that fits in with a sex scandal hypothesis.
Hell, with five women implicated, even if the sex scandal story is 80% BS, he’s still screwed!
“Let me be clear: Donald Trump may be a rat, but I have no desire to copulate with him.” - Ted Cruz
No shit: that is an actual sentence that Ted Cruz said to the media. What a country!
The crazy thing is, like three months ago Ted Cruz was the *only *Republican in the race consistently saying nice things about Drumpf, even holding rallies with him. He would criticize moderators at debates for asking questions about some of the awful things Drumpf said!
ETA: Are we to assume that Cruz ordinarily would have a predilection for copulating with your average rat, just not this one? (Yes, I know what “ratfucking” is, but a lot of his fans might not, and it’s just such a funny thing for him to say.)
When was the last time a candidate for President called another one a sniveling coward?
Republicans at the FEC have stymied enforcement, so I agree that legal action won’t be a concern this year. That said, the slush fund transfer provides a convenient fig leaf to discuss the Cuban Mistress Crisis in politer company. If politer company can be located that is.

Honestly, sex scandals depress me a little.
ETA: Fig Leaf: Fig leaf for a rule change before the convention. Late campaign chaos could justify some last minute intervention.
I’m going to guess maybe 1850s? They got pretty wild in the antebellum period.
I’ll go with that. Invective, like storytelling, was an art form in the pre-mass-media days.
This post led me to imagine Donald beating Ted silly with a cane.
Stay tuned
That is absolutely the conclusion I drew from Ted’s statement. And I did not know that ‘ratfucking’ had its own Urban Dictionary entry although I should have guessed.
Oh man, it is too hilarious to contemplate the confusion there might be out there from that statement! Now he’s going to have to issue a new statement to clarify, which will surely be a gem of cringe comedy in its own right.
An occasion for a “Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions” bit if there ever was one.
I prefer to imagine them taking turns.
Trump responds to the National Enquirer smear of Ted Cruz.

I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do wiht it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it.

Trump lies a lot. It’s not clear whether this story reflects beans that Trump threatened to spill on Cruz’s wife. Trump continues:

…Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz.
https://twitter.com/jdelreal/status/713436866918412289/photo/1

Trump is such a sleazebag. NE has turned out to be right some of the time, but that doesn’t mean they were ever right most of the time. Still, I’d expect him to fan the flames of this story: Donald Trump lives for this stuff.
Vox trudges through the swamp: The "garbage" story Ted Cruz says "Donald Trump and his henchmen" are spreading, explained - Vox
This story isn’t about Cruz’s wife so this clearly is not the beans he said he would spill about her.
I’d love it if people quit linking twitter feeds, btw. If that’s your best link it’s probably not worth linking with the obvious exception that you want to show Trump’s latest crazy tweet.
Very strange request. Ridiculous, even.
