Frankly, I don’t know all the ins and outs of it. I just know it’s not a popular program with the anti-establishment crowd.
Very few PACs are simply against a particular candidate. But this was one of them.
Make America Awesome is run by Liz Mair, former digital strategist for Scott Walker. She held that position for a single day. She apparently tweeted some remarks questioning the consistent early timing of the Iowa Caucus.

Twitter stream after her resignation. Hilariously defensive:
Mair is allegedly a supporter of amnesty for undocumented aliens. She calls herself, “… an online communications expert, new media adviser, blogger and columnist, who writes principally about politics, with additional commentary on…” blah blah. Her website blog has its most recent entries devoted to travel and her cat.
ETA: running coach: “I still haven’t found a statement that he [Cruz] condemns the ad.” Me neither.
I just read a National Enquirer piece that claims that Cruz has not one, but 5 mistresses. I know, its the NE, but… it would be so cool!!
I would doubt it only because it would mean there are six women who want to have sex with Ted Cruz.
Reminds me of a Keeping Up Appearances episode (my imperfect recall):
Daisy: “Do you think my Onslow has another woman?”
Hyacinth: “I’m surprised he ever got one!”
I wouldn’t piss on Cruz if he was on fire, but Jesus does Trump have any sense of decency? I don’t care how hot you think Trophy Wife III is, it’s really crass to imply that another’s wife is bad looking.
I think–from a certain perspective–it was a great move by Trump. The first shot was fired by the anti-Trump PAC that tweeted the racy pic of Melania. Trump responds with a tweet that basically says, “You wanna bring the wives into this? Okay, hell yeah my wife is hot! And yours is not. Here’s proof.”
Crude and cruel? Yes. But I can imagine Trump’s fans ate it up–it furthers his image of hitting back twice as hard, and if Cruz’s campaign had any part in the initial tweet of Melania, they will be thinking twice before trying that kind of attack again.
A spokeswoman for the anti-Trump PAC that posted the original Melania pic said that they have more to come.
Vice News interviewed Liz Mair who basically runs one of the two anti-Trump Pacs. Liz Mair: [INDENT]I’m not sure which 1930’s European country Trump’s supporters think they’re living in, but in America, it is not acceptable to respond to three-figure-spend political ads you don’t like by harassing the ad-maker and her family and threatening violence…
I’m now reconsidering my decision to hold off on running two other ads that make this one look like a hyper-sanitized Bible story, mostly just for fun and to see if Trump will have an actual, full-on aneurysm," Mair said in an email. …Now, 3 women according to the update.
Trump has done the impossible. He’s actually made me feel some sympathy for Ted Cruz.
Ted Cruz milks it, savors the moment: Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is Scared | March 24, 2016 - YouTube
Sweet Jesus.
This might all be fake, but there are enough wisps of hints of sordid details that I don’t think it’s going away soon. (Like the Fiorina SuperPAC money which was shady enough back when I first heard of it.)
Hart problems, eh?
This has me more hopeful than a stupid sex scandal. I’m hoping for a campaign finance scandal that has the potential to blow up the campaign finance laws.
NE has actually pretty good journalistic standards for a tabloid and wouldn’t have published this without a good degree of certainty that it was correct. Just ask Hart, Edwards, Jesse Jackson…
Also, this got dropped right at the start of a pretty fallow period as far as Primary news, so expect it to hang around for a few news cycles at the very least. This could have legs.
That came out last October. When do you think this hoped for scandal/blow up is going to start?
Lindsey Graham was on The Daily Show a couple of days ago. Trevor Noah, the host, asked him about two statements he’d made about Ted Cruz. One was “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, no one would convict you.” The second involved choosing between Trump and Cruz. Graham said the choice was like choosing between being poisoned or being shot. And despite all of that, Graham is supporting Cruz, explaining, “It tells you everything you need to know about Donald Trump.”
So if Cruz’s candidacy blows up over his alleged mistresses, it’s really going leave the Republican Party screwed.
Having Cruz as their nominee would screw them about as much anyway.
That’s the thing; the Republican Party establishment seems to hate both Trump and Cruz, and yet they seem to have no alternative.
They do seem to be reluctantly resigning themselves to the guy who’s about to clinch their nomination. He is, at least, a dealmaker they can make deals with, while the other one has led charges over a cliff several times already.
