He’s less well known than Cruz, which for a Republican is a good thing. And he has a more moderate image, IMHO, whether he’s actually more moderate or not.
That makes him more electable; it does not make him any better a prospective POTUS.
He is the Senator from Central Casting, he looks like a Senator in the same way that Romney looks like a President.
About Romney: is it my imagination or has he had precisely the same touch of grey at his temples for about fifteen years now? Where Obama looks like he spent the last six years working in a Fukushima coal mine.
That observation has been made regarding every president who entered the White House with any dark hair over the last 50 years. It is a rather stressful job that ages people much faster than any other. Even GWB appeared to age in office.
And yet, somehow, never matured.
Which is to say, not at all.
Yes, but modern US presidential elections, unfortunately, are usually about electability, not about merit as a prospective President.
So Ted Cruz has a spiffy logo. Hmmm… he got the idea from Aljazeera?
I’m not entirely sure why the Post had to pick a picture from that angle so that Cruz looks like he’s doing a lazy Nazi salute.
I like Cruz, but don’t see him going anywhere this year. He’d have been better off establishing himself as a presence in the Senate.
I’m not going to badger you about stuff and get into an argument, but can I ask what you like about him?
I will! Yeah, astorian, what the fuck do you like about this malignant rectum?
Oh, he’s* established *himself alright. If he waits any longer, both parties will tar and feather him.
I’d say that it is more suggestive of flag burning than of al Jazeera, but I am certainly open to the possibility that it is based on natural gas.
Looks to me like a flag being burned in Pentecostal tongues of fire powered by clean, efficient natural gas.
Tonight’s (April 13) Rachael Maddow Show had a piece on a major funding source for Cruz, Bob Mercer.
(I checked her website and tonight’s show wasn’t online as of 10:30PM EST)
Bob, the hedge fund manager of Renaissance Fund, has been dabbling in politics since he first tried to unseat the Congressman responsible for proposing a tax on financial transactions. He’s put hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, into funding the campaign of a nut job in Oregon, Art Robinson, who believes, among other things, that AIDS is a myth and that radioactivity is good for people.
Around 2010 the IRS started looking into the tax calculations of Renaissance Fund and now claims the fund owes $6 Billion in additional federal income taxes.
And Ted Cruz wants to eliminate the IRS. Hmmmm.
Cruz has raised at least some $31 million. One wonders how much from 'ol Bob.
Hence, my decree.
I wonder how popular this idea of his will be: Ted Cruz: Vets Should Sell Cookies For Funding, Like Girl Scouts
I would think veterans would be in his base and would be unhappy with this suggestion, but I don’t know overall how the reception would be.
Where do you think those Harry Potter Time-turners got to? I suspect our last several Presidents have been using them to be in about 5 briefings at the same time, hence the unnatural aging.
