Ted Nugent, Nutritionist

Yesterday, Ted was on a news program claiming that he and his family eat healthily.
He claims that venison, turkey and goose are the healthiest foods for the human body.
This sounds a bit wrong to me; I thought grains and fruits were.
Is he talking off the top of his head?
I know he kills these foods himself, which makes them healthier than meat you buy in a grocery store, but still.

Shoe, I suggest you head over to Great Debates, which is where most low-carb/low-fat/vegetarian/carnivore discussions probably belong, anyway.

I suggest this current thread:

Short answer: No, he’s probably not talking off the top of his head. Yes, he is a bit of a blowhard despite that. Is he right? Nobody knows. People can make a convincing case either way. In general, though, it’s pretty tough to argue against eating wild game for health reasons, and you can certainly live quite a long healthy life on a diet of just fresh meat.

But fruits and grains can be good, too.

I once read that eating things that are closest to your own make-up is what is healthiest. That means that ultimately, cannibalism would be the best thing for you (but PLEASE don’t interpret that to mean I recommend it!).

Personally, I think Ted’s a schmuck because he hunts for sport. Eat it or not, he hunts for sport and I find that to be an ugly trait.

Ted hasn’t bought meat from a butcher or grocery store since the early 1970s.

I don’t know where Ted gets his nutrition info or if he’s credible in that area, but he is well-read and well-informed on all things having to do with guns and society. He’s one hell of a blowhard, but he’s on top of the information available.
