Alaska Senator Ted Stevens has just been found guilty on all 7 counts.

So, has this sunk his reelection chances?

Definitely. He had a slight gap as it was, and this is going to kill any chance of a comeback, especially with only a week left.

… Huh.

Well, isn’t that somethin’.

Well, he could be sentenced to six years community service.

I wonder if he’d be willing to lend me that $2700 chair he doesn’t own?

There’s a shocker.

If Stevens is re-elected but the Senate votes to expel him . . . that means Palin gets to appoint his replacement. Right?

Is there a high school running buddy she hasn’t tapped for something yet?

I suppose a Bush pardon would screw up any chair lending possibilities.

Is there any chance Alaska will re-elect this asshole?

Yes

If he goes to prison, can he expect to encounter a series of tubes?

{shudder}

Not if she’s VP at the time.

Really? You think so? From what I’ve seen, Stevens was already behind by a couple of points, and I can’t imagine that this would help him.

I knew this guy was scum ever since his temper tantrum on one of the earlier episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher. It’s the Stony Lonesome for you, buddy!

“If Stevens is re-elected but the Senate votes to expel him . . . that means Palin gets to appoint his replacement. Right?”

I think so.

My question is could she appoint herself?

Will he really go to prison and what will happen to his luxury cabin in the hills?

No, she can’t appoint anyone. There has to be a special election.

Can Stevens vote in this election now that he is a convicted fellon?
