I just upgraded the gallery software and I need to test some of the features. I turned on the thing that lets you register as a gallery user, and I need that tested. I also need people to test the upload and comments features.
This is the main gallery page. There is a “regsiter” link in the upper right corner. PLEASE use either your SDMB name or an easy-to-recognize variation thereof, just to avoid confusion. Once you have registered you should be able to log in. I need people to try this and make sure it works. Also try posting comments, both while logged in and as a guest.
I don’t want to just grant people uploading access automatically because the potential for abuse is just too high… so if you would like to test the upload feature, please register first, then email me at opalcat (at) gmail (dot) com (not my fathom address–it is too spammy at the moment and the chances of me missing your email are too great) and let me know what name you registered as and I will get back to you.
You know, some people whine about how slow the board is, but if you can post a message, go back to the New Posts, open up another thread, read it, try to post a sarcastic response and get the “not yet” message, the board is moving like greased lightning, people. Life is good.
Going to comments I got one that already existed, but when I tried to post one I wasn’t able to figure out how to pick a specific picture to comment. Mind you, it’ past my bedtime and I own a binary brain: it’s either asleep or awake, doesn’t do “half asleep” and right now it’s asleep.
You go to the picture you want by browsing through the gallery. Underneath each picture (not on the thumbnails page but on the page where that is the only picture that you see) is a link “add a comment”.
I think your username is just what you login with, and your “full name” is what is shown to the public. So you could be jsd37893234 as a username but Joe Schmoe Dude to the public.
I was able to add a comment. Maybe I’ll add some more just for fun. BTW the site has a very nice look to it – not too simple, not too busy. I’d add a section for miscellaneous stuff I must share. Do pics stay there forever, or do they expire and/or can they be removed?
Thanks for doing this, OpalCat. By the way, I have registered and sent my photo to her. I was thinking about taking a photo of me as a T-shirt Ninja, but I have no digital camera, so I simply had someone walking by take a plain picture of me at work.
Hi, just to clarify: I don’t need people to send me photos. I already know that I can upload pics. I need people to test the whole registration/login/uploading process. What I need you to do is register, tell me which gallery you want to put your picture(s) in, and then I will change the settings so that you can upload them yourself.
