I am greatly touched by the compliment. My Aunt (who is 29… not much older than me) works double shifts to support her children as a single parent and considers them the proudest accomplishment of her life. Anyone would be overwhelmed in her situation, but she did the right thing by dumping the jerk and learning to approach her kid with more compassion. It took her a while to get there, but she made the effort and deserves credit for it.
I’ve talked about her before here, but my Sis-in-law is an incredibly bad parent… so much so that we got a court order giving us custody of her youngest boy.
We know for a fact she has done the following:
[ul]
[li]Neglected her kids[/li][li]Abused her kids[/li][li]Done drugs in front of her kids[/li][li]Bought her kids toys, then turned around and sold them so she could pay her bills[/li][/ul]
Funny thing is that she STILL thinks she’s a good parent and wonders why we restrict her visits with him.
