Tell me about bit.trip

I saw a Wii game on sale today which was a collection of 6 “bit.trip” games. From reading some quick reviews, I gathered two things: (a) they’re very well regarded, and (b) they’re related to music. But I can’t quite figure out whether they’re games like Parappa the Rapper in which the rhythm of the music is truly integral, or just games with good and distinctive soundtracks. What’s the deal?

Thanks…

The rhythm of the music is not very central to executing play IMO; I can play just as well muted. The beat of the music is largely in sync with the play mechanics though, and the music is a nice accompaniment; and each “jump” “kick” “duck” etc makes a sound that is nicely integrated with the beat of the music.

I’m glad I bought the 6-pack, but honestly I only play 1 or 2 of the games, and each is fairly insubstantial. The side-scroller is my favorite: difficult, amusing, frustrating, and a little addicting, as any good side-scroller should be.
