Tell me about Butterfly Boucher!

I picked up the Shrek 2 soundtrack a while back. If for no other reason than that I’m a huge Counting Crows fan, and they have a song on there.

I casually listened to the rest of the CD, and heard the cover of David Bowie’s “Changes.” I didn’t pay that much attention to it, and mentally filed it away as a Fiona Apple song.

I just went back and listened to it again last night, though, and I have to confess that I STILL thought it was Fiona Apple under a different name, or as part of a collaborative effort.

So who can tell me more about Butterfly Boucher? How the hell do you say the last name? Boo-cher? Bow-cher? Boo-chay?

Is that cover representitive of the rest of her sound?

I love Butterfly!!

She’s an Australian singer/songwriter/bass player who is currently located in Nashville. She has one album out, Flutterby, that is really good.

I’ve seen her a couple of times, both solo and with her band, and both times she sounded great. She opened for Barenaked Ladies last spring, and spend most of the rest of the year with Sarah MacLachlin (sp?).

I think her sound on “Changes” is pretty similar to the rest of her stuff. My favorite tracks from Flutterby are “Another White Dash” and “I Can’t Make Me”.

She has MP3’s and videos on her official site, butterflyboucher.com - they’re worth checking out.

Also, forgot to mention - she’s WAY hotter in person than she is on her website. She’s a serious cutie. And very nice to boot.

I love Another White Dash - it is a great road trip tune.

I do believe her last name is pronounce Bow-Chur.

Yep…Bow-chur. We saw her opening for Sarah in Vegas. Pretty good, if I do say so. Get the CD…you won’t be disappointed.
