I have several friends who like them and would like to know what’s so great about them, best songs/albums, etc.
Thanks!

Just a rockin’ band.
The main guy is Warren Haynes, who played a lot with Allman Brother’s Band.
I have a friend whose uncle is the drummer, and he hooked us up sweet when they opened for Ben Harper in DC once (7th row seats, backstage passes).
I’ve seen them a couple more times locally.
I don’t think they’re great, but they nice to see live, in a place you can drink some beer.
They play very hard, and used to play even harder. The Mule is basically a reincarnated '70s hard blues rock band along the lines of Cream or Mountain, although in recent years they’ve branched out from that somewhat. They’ll give you a 2 1/2 to 3-hour live show every time and play with real intensity. Their first albums with Allen Woody on bass are their best. He was a monster player.
Among their best songs, I’d include Mule, Wandering Child, Blind Man in the Dark, Painted Silver Light, Fallen Down, Lay Your Burden Down and Left Coast Groovies, and their covers of If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day, John the Revelator and Mother Earth. I guess that means I’m recommending their self-titled first album and their third studio album, Life Before Insanity.
Everybody else in the world like Soulshine, but I just don’t. Technically it’s not a Mule song anyway, but they play it all the time.
