Tell me about Lammes Candies.

We got some pecan pralines and some “longhorns” (like “turtles”) in a gift box from one of manthous’ clients. Yummy! Are they a big deal candy company? I checked out the web site, but don’t really know how popular they are out in the world.

Do you enjoy Lammes?

I just realized I should’ve posted this in the Cafe…whoops!

Yes, Lammes are really famous throughout Texas–when I was growing up outside of Texas my family used to order boxes of pecan pralines (their best product, IMHO) because you cant buy them in stores anywhere else.

Now that I live overseas I have my family send me boxes of pralines to give to people as gifts, and they get rave reviews every time.

We also got a big tin of just plain (perhaps raw) pecans. I see pies, cookies and pecan-related stuff in my cooking future!

Never heard of them. I’m only here because I thought you misspelled “Lammas”, and I was hopeful that there were Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh candies to go with the abundance of Samhain ones.

Never mind.

Here 'ya go, everything that you needed to know!

Sorry, I didn’t see that you had already checked out the site. They are based out of Austin and are something of an institution around here. The Longhorns are pretty popular. They also sell a lot of chocolate coated strawberries out of their stores for Valentines and Mothers Days.

Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.
