Tell me about something that made your day

Yesterday I got a delivery from Amazon with this inside.

And a note from my husband that said: ‘‘Just Because!’’

And then we spent the evening with friends watching new Futurama on DVD.

All of these stories are warm and fuzzy, but this one really got me. My Aunt has always been my Special Person for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was in junior high she came completely unexpected and signed me out of school, then took me to a beautiful garden/terrarium where we spent the day. THAT made my day. She’s still my best friend.

It’s little but a student thanked me for returning his call. i feel the call to service and was reminded that service includes follow through and honoring promises. I did not give the student good news but he thanked me for calling. it made my day and inspired me to be more responsive to those i serve in my life.

My house is a complete jungle at the moment.

Tomorrow is The Littlest Briston’s sixth birthday party, and the party has a jungle/safari theme. There are flowering vines stretching from one end of the house to the other, all across the ceiling and hanging down all over the place. Jungle grass is growing out of the walls all throughout the house. Jungle trees have popped up and there are tropical birds, tigers, monkeys, spiders, tree frogs and all other sorts of creatures peeking out all over the place.

I’m sitting at my desk working, and every now and then when I get up to get something I have to spend a minute looking around and just…smile.

I’m ashamed of how long it took me to figure this one out.

Regards,
Shodan

I guess my husband liked it, too, because he cleaned out the whole bowl last night.

You have an album out and I was not informed?

Two things yesterday. When we were out for breakfast we got a call from our son-in-law telling us that he passed the NJ Bar, and so now can get on with his life.

At noon my wife got a call saying the suspicious lump in her breast was not cancerous, not pre-cancerous, and nothing to worry about at all.

Yesterday was a good day.

Are you kidding? That was a freaking GREAT day!

PICTURES, damnit!

Hey, I have a friend who just passed the NJ bar yesterday. He’s not married though.

So glad your wife is safe.

And a big ol’ congrats to Annie as well.

Tim Tebow is 4-1 as a starter and it’s driving people in sports media insane – INSANE I tell ya.

Making my day.

.

At a club meeting last night I was given a 2lb Claxton fruit cake. I love fruit cake and Claxton is one of the best commercial ones. Yum!

Don’t feel bad. I’m with ya. Even after I sounded it out I was all, “What’s so funny about that?” :smack: Jeez …

I did a small favor for someone I work with yesterday. Something was scheduled to go out next Monday but for various reasons it would make her life easier/better to have it faster. I checked with my manager and together we made a one-time exception and pushed it through for her just because this is a nice person and we like working with her. Didn’t even get a “thank you” but that’s likely because she didn’t even know I was doing this for her in the first place.

(“Sometimes, when you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all…”

I teach English in a Kindergarten close by once a week. One morning a few weeks ago, I had sent the kids from the first group back to their rooms and one boy from the second group came tearing into the room where I was, threw his arms around me, and presented me with a friendship bracelet, which was made of twisted yarn and large enough to fit over any three of my fingers. I was grinning for hours.

Today, it midst of things gone wrong, I went to get new snow tires put on my car. Sure enough, it turned out I had ordered the wrong size tires. But, knowing my summer tires were growing bald and that snow is expected tomorrow, I opted for putting the old snow tires on the car until I can get the right size in.

The shop cheerfully swapped out the tires for me and loaded my summer tires into the back of my car. I made mention that I would be getting new summer tires at the end of winter and the gentleman grinned at me and agreeably said, “Your tires are a bit worn.”

Driving home, I looked back at the tires. Boy oh boy, were they worn. Two of them were more than treadless, worn right down to the metal. I am one lucky camper that none of them blew out on me. I knew they had lost grip, but even racing slicks aren’t that smooth.

I’m counting my blessings tonight.

Here ya go!

And a great video (if I do say so myself) – that I can’t guarantee non-facebook friends will be able to see (such a pain to share things fully).

Am I the only one who expected to see jungle sheep?

What a fantastic cake! I never thought about making a cake on different levels like that.

Today we had a friend, a professional photographer, shoot belly pictures and also some good family pictures. The baby is due a month from now and I was worried that if it wasn’t going to happen this weekend, it was never going to happen. We had a great day and we are looking forward to see the pictures. I have been waiting to take some good family pictures for a few months now and I am glad we finally were able to. Good happy day.
