Tell me about Springfield, MO

Oh, Oregon (Portland, McMinnville)… central Cal. . . eastern WA and north Idaho, and Van, BC. Have been moving around for too long to be sure!

Missouri state parks, as a group, are quite good. The system is among the best in the nation. There are quite a few within a 1-2 hour drive radius of Springfield.

Southern Missouri and northwest Arkansas are blessed with many fine canoeing rivers. Good fishing is also readily available.

In general, good bicycling can be found on Missouri’s county roads, though I’m not sure of the particulars in the Springfield area. The Katy trail, a favorite of many cyclists, is not too far away (close enough for a weekend trip, probably not for a day trip).

Music? What kind of music are you interested in? While I doubt it’s a hotbed of heavy metal or rap, I’m sure some of that can be found (several colleges/universities in town). Classical, I have no clue. Country and bluegrass are very well represented. Branson has a surprising variety of music, though probably nothing in the edgier genres.
