I shall be very disappointed, for your sake, if “Shut the fuck up, you fucking troll,” is no longer acceptable. Just in case - y’know - he ever comes back.
For the record, that phrase is one of my own prouder coinages, and I think it should be officially grandfathered in, abusiveness be fucked.
Oops.
You know what, Cervaise, that’s the second time I’ve improperly attributed a phrase of yours. I should, perhaps, be more careful next time. It would, of course, help if you would either a) stop coining phrases, or b) change your name to something possible for me to remember, such as DingDong Witherspoon Bumblebee. Up to you.
Seriously, my apologies.
Heh. No sweat. Just peeing on one of my landmarks a little.
I’m sure that’s what you were aiming at, but what you hit was my neck. Now I suppose you’ll tell me it was raining.
I haven’t read those, either
The absolute, utter stupidity of this new policy cannot possibly be summed up any better than in this amazing comment.
Ooooo. I want to abuse the Quote tags now.
Ed,
I too read for entertainment but rarely join the fray in the Pit. I see this rule (#2) as virtually certain to arbitrarily stifle participation, and thus reduce my entertainment. Sucks. We should be able to flame each other, insult each other, even abuse each other-- in this one special forum. After all, we are merely anonymous clusters of electrons. Anybody who can’t take some abuse from another anonymous pulse on the intarwebs really needs to stay home and hide behind the couch. Or at least restrict themselves to boards discussing kittens and unicorns.
I have no problem restricting discussions of Admin and Mod activities to ATMB, and requiring civility. No real need to Pit a discussion of some policy decision.
However, it is possible for a Mod to Mod like a dick. Posters should be able to toast such. It really doesn’t happen all that often, and when it is done without justification, other posters swiftly support the mod. That should be enough for those mods with reasonably good judgement and skin of normal thickness.
But to ensure complete protection, I would further suggest that Mods be given “mod names”-- effectively socks, used only for Mod duties. They could then retain their own persona for their normal posting. This would insulate Mods from crossover issues. It would completely remove the feeling or the claim that “you only say that because I complained about your Mod action in that other thread…”. It would prevent misunderstandings and hard feelings on both sides when inevitable disagreements over mod decisions occur.
And it would let the posters (including hidden Mods) continue with their flamingly entertaining ways.
Please?
(I’ve already got a pony.)
I will be banned when, unable to tell a certain poster to fuck off, or fuck themselves, I go on and on about how I want them to fuck me
I think I’ll title it “forget Out Of Body, I want to experience you in mine!”
Why doesn’t Ed post more often?
'Cause he’s a fuzzy kittycat.
Personally, I liked him better when he was pretending we didn’t exist.
Which is funny, because I still get that same feeling, except when he feels it’s time to play Zeus and rain bolts down upon our heads because he feels we need it, and because he can.
It used to be that he pretended the whole board didn’t exist. We’d go YEARS at a time without hearing word one from Ed. Then CL bought the Reader and Ed wrote a book and now he’s here every freakin’ day and realizing that all of his stepkids here resent him and he can’t stand it because we’re challenging his authoriteh!
I’ll get banned because about the tenth time someone dies of boredom while reading one of my posts, TPTB will accuse me of wishing death on others just by posting.
In fact, I’m not sure why I haven’t been banned already.
