Temptation Island-TV Show

Fox, Wed nights 9:00pm.

A bunch of skinny women rating 8-9 with eating disorders & a bunch of horny stupid guys, equally as skinny, flashing their penises at the women in order to stay on the island & advertisers who must be too embarrassed by this whole thing so they have their names blurred out, on some hot sunny island with lots of food & drink.

thats my opinion

Yeah, but that Billy is DAMN HOT!

What I want to know is why a couple would want to do this? It’s hard enough to stay together, but to put yourself in a situation where it is the job of everyone else on the island to come between you!

Real couples wouldn’t.

These people are models, dancers, wannabe actors, and God-knows-what-else. For them, apparently, exposure is everything. Ambition is all they respect. “A mating of sharks” doesn’t begin to describe these relationships.

Wading in the ocean of their love wouldn’t get the top of your toes wet.

Terrible, mindless, voyeuristic crap! Playing with people’s lives! A ridiculous joke of a show akin to Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire. Whoever came up with this idea should be flogged.

That said…I, being the ultimate sucker for reality based t.v. shows, watched it again last night.
It really is like a car wreck. I can’t stop myself from watching. The whole time it’s on, I’m thinking, “This is a terrible show! Who wants to see this? I’m sure there is something much more worth my while on.” I’m not even enjoying it and yet I can’t bring myself to change the channel.

Yes, I’m ashamed.

OrcaChow, I think you nailed it (no pun intended :). To add to your no-doubt extremely accurate statement, I would say that I’m old-fashioned enough to still consider infidelity a bad thing, and a show promoting it and trying to get any people to participate in it is in extremely poor taste.

Are these people really actors? Cite please.

Not that I don’t believe you, but I want to know for certain.

I think the key word here is “wannabe”.

I saw the first one - and it sucked. (The island is simply gorgeous.) But last night they re-ran “In This White House” on The West Wing. And that won out.

But the real problem with the show, is that FOX has leaked way too much information. Some leaks are ok, teasers get people to tune in. But one of the reasons “Survivor” worked is that no one told what was going to happen. Everyone’s already blabbed this one - so, there’s no drama at all. (Not that there was a lot to begin with, but there was potential of some level of suspense.)

The first episode was incredibly disappointing; where’s the sleaze?! The second episode showed a lot of promise, though… “Keep me on the island, I have a penis!” Too bad I heard one couple gets booted because it’s found out they have a child. I’ll bet it’s the black couple, because whatever’s keeping them together, it sure ain’t love! I know it makes me a terrible person, but I’m enjoying their head games. Still, it should’ve been sleazier. It would’ve been better if there were some kind of incentive for the “sexy singles” to get into the couples’ pants. If things are going to be sleazy, they should go all-out.

I watched the most recent episode, but not the first one, and the single women actually got a pool of money together, and the first one to screw one of the guys wins the money. I really feel sorry for everyone involved in this travesty. I’ll probably still watch it occasionally, but I won’t follow it religiously like I will with Survivor II.

Also, another incentive the singles have is that they may be seeking Survivor-esque fame from this show, and if they want to be noticed, they will have to become a prominent feature of the show, which will involve fucking the “main characters.”

Oh yeah, and did anyone notice that the host of TI looks and sounds shockingly similar to the host of Survivor?

Diane, I just knew you would be watching this! I was thinking how this show reminds me of Melrose Place, and that made me think of you.

I got sucked in. The thing that fascinates me the most is difference between the men and the women. In last week’s episode, they showed the men and women thirty minutes after they had been separated. The men were partying in a bar with all the hot chicks, while the women were holding hands and supporting each other through tears. How freakin’ stereotypical is THAT?

I believe that one of the four women is a lawyer. Also, I heard that it IS the black couple that has a child. They’ve been together for five years, so that fits.

I missed the first show, is there a prize for lasting through this travesty?

I watched it last night. And yeah, all I kept thinking was wow some of the mind games they are playing are pretty crappy.
And I know this probably isn’t shocking to you guys, but my husband started to comment over the show. He told me that if I wanted to watch it to use another tv, or don’t watch it at all.
Well, he went to the store and when he came back it was on. As he sat at the computer he started to comment on the show, and then ended up watching it!

I stayed away from the other shows and couldn’t figure out what the big hype was, and I probably won’t watch anymore of this one.
