What a wanker.
You’re the first doper to ever accuse me of causing him to spit something onto his keyboard.
Enlighten me please.
And I’ll echo whoever said it first: why is everyone associating Carlin’s 7 words with blink182? Don’t tell me those bubblegum punks made an album and gave named the songs after the 7 words in a desperate attempt to be cool…
Belgium.
Unless you use it in a purely gratuitous manner.
In all seriousness, I believe the word “hillbilly” is now over the line. Also the phrase “trailer trash”.
“Breeder” is not to be used by the childless-by-choice when referring to people who have, well, bred.
“Gypsies/gypped” is a racial/ethnic slur - people of this type prefer to be called “Rom” or “Romani” from what I understand. “Gypped” kinda goes along with the common misperception that all “Gypsies” are thieves and cheaters, and is therefore also considered a slur.
They have a song where the only words are “Shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits fart turd and twat” sung over and over again. Catchy little tune it is, too.

I’ve asked this before, but since I didn’t get an answer from anyone, I’ll ask it again:
Where does it say “gypped” or “gyped” evolved from “gypsy”? Thus far, every in-print dictionary and etymology source I’ve seen says that it “possibly” or “likely” comes from “gypsy”. But “possibly” and “likely” don’t quite make the case when it comes to facts. Heck, even Cecil Adams has used the word in a column. (Last paragraph.)
I’m not defending the word; I’m just wondering. It makes sense that, from looks alone, the word comes from “gypsy”, but the same could be said for “niggardly”.
And, if I might hijack, it’s hard to care when you live in a place where the only Gypsy in town is on MST3K.

And, ** SkipMagic**, you must have asked in the wrong thread as this has been explained over and over in various threads and fora (forums?). I’m sure if you did some looking you would find the answer.

Those words just aren’t nice.
A few possible etymologies for “Gyp” or “Gypped” that I’ve heard:
[li]From the common terms for Romani people, “Gypsy” or “Gypsies” - maybe originating from crooked horse dealing.[/li][li]From “gee-up” - which seems to be an old British term for “to treat roughly”.[/li][li]An old word for an errand boy/valet/servant at Cambridge University.[/li][li]From “Egyptian” - the ones that actually do come from Egypt that is.[/li]
A fair amount of those are discussed here.
2 and 3 don’t seem to make much sense, given the usage of the terms (Unless Cambridge errand boys were generally thought of as a bunch of thieving bastards).
1 or 4 seem to be the most likely. It could be argued - discounting the possible horse dealing link - that it boils down to which group has a bigger reputation for being thieves or swindlers. But I would suppose that the reason most dictionaries and etymology sources say “possibly” or “likely” from “Gypsy” is because it’s the only one that makes sense in the context of its general usage.
Somebody should ask Cecil.
