The other day while outside I saw a weed sticking out of the ground, so I pulled it out. I guess there was an ant colony directly underneath, because as soon as I removed the plant, swarms of ants came pouring out of the hole meandering around in a panic. I assume that they were freaked out that their nest was under attack, and it was extremely fasinating to watch them move- They would move in a spiral pattern around the hole, but they wouldn’t just be moving in a circle, they would be weaving back and forth as they spiraled outward. With hordes of ants all doing this, criscrossing each other’s paths, it made this rather hypnotic pattern.
I only wish I didn’t have some hapless insect handy to drop on them as a sacrifice to our Insect Overlords
