I agree it’s extremely unlikely this isn’t a Russian conspiracy. Putin is supporting Iran and the Taliban. Both enemies of ISIS-K. An attack would happen eventually.
The brutality of this attack is sickening.

Trying to say there’s no Russian conspiracy.
Messed up my wording before. Been a long day.
Thanks for clarification. I was mightily confused.
That would be “Putin’s puppets in Congress”
But of course various people in Russia are saying this proves America were behind it all.
The 4 suspects appeared in court. Does Russia prefer execution or years of hard labor and abuse in Siberia? Either way they die, it’s just how long it takes.
AFAIK, Russia has abolished the death penalty (at least, within the judicial system, which is not to overlook what the spy/security agencies and other proxies like the Chechen government get up to).
Anyone know why Crocus City Hall’s big signage is in English? Only the smaller signs are in Russian (or at least Cyrillic).
Putin is a pig. He tried to make political hay out of the slaughter of his own people by blaming Ukraine for what ISIS openly admitting doing. According to the news outlets I frequent, we actually warned them that the terrorist attack was imminent. I wouldn’t be surprised if Putin WANTED to happen so that he could get political leverage out of it.
CNN showed them literally being dragged from a van into the courtroom; it was unclear whether their heads were bandaged or blindfolded or both, but they didn’t appear to be in good shape. And I don’t expect that their condition will be getting any better.
Nah. He’s supposed to be the Protector of the Russian People; this kind of attack makes him look weak.
From what I’ve seen of documentaries showing how prisoners are handled in Russian prisons, it’s pretty much normal procedure for a prisoner to have their hands cuffed behind them and a guard force them to walk bent over like that. Not what I would call dragging, as the prisoners are walking forward under their own power, but it looks like the whole process is designed to reinforce submission and afford them zero opportunity to do anything other than walk from point A to point B.
The facial damage is a separate issue. If it didn’t occur when they were being apprehended, then it wouldn’t surprise me if happened when they were “voluntarily” confessing.
I agree with your statement in spirit but, in this case, failing to conquer Ukraine has already made him look weak. His image and the image of the Russian military has taken a beating. He needs to win that war as the first step in reconstructing the Soviet Union, which is his wet dream.
Also, although Putin is accustomed to getting away with blatant lies because of the disinformation network he maintains, he is also surely astute enough to realize that it would soon become clear that there’s no connection to Ukraine whatsoever, as indeed has already happened.
There is video of one of the suspects being forced to eat his own ear. I think it’s safe to say they are not being treated well.
I can both believe that they shouldn’t be treated that way and also have no sympathy for murderous scum at the same time. It does make me question if they have the right guys or they just beat up the usual suspects.

I think most of us feel the same way.
That’s an interesting and disturbing question. Since they’ve been identified as residents of Tajikistan and as a result of the attack the president of that country has vowed to fight ISIS terrorism alongside Putin, if those aren’t the guys Putin is pulling quite an ambitious scam even for him.
I’m surprised the men didn’t use suicide belts to avoid capture and kill more people.
Their future will be unimaginable levels of abuse and work. But they knew that from the beginning.
Well, maybe “trumps puppets in Congress” is better, but trump does have Putins strings on him.
Which is why I strongly suspect these are 4 random patsies of an ethnicity close enough to support Putin’s narrative on Russian TV.
In a country where random official violence is a normal everyday occurrence on a huge scale, the only thing noteworthy about these 4 unfortunate folks is that many people will read their names and see their faces before they disappear then die. The other hundreds (thousands counting the war) of daily victims will remain anonymous to all but their immediate families.
They seem to match the visual evidence from the attack. (NYT article)
