I would hazard a guess taht at least 5% of december’s posts posit that whatver he’s blithering about will cause the Democrats to lose an election. Whether it’s the Judiciary Committee’s questioning of Miguel Estrada, American soldiers getting car-bombed in Iraq, a factual error on the NY Times op-ed page, or an increase in solar flares, it’s all going to cost the Dems in the next election. Regardless of my own personal feelings on the matter (and my amazement at december’s continuing presence on this message board), I seem to recall that the mods have very particular views about the use of the T-word with regard to other posters. You may wish to eschew its usage in future.
Why is this a surprise? december is a loyal conservative Republican, and one of the fundamental aspects of conservatism is “look out for number one” – otherwise known as “it’s only wrong when other people do it.”
I suspect the only reason december opposed the war in Vietnam was because he stood a good chance of getting drafted into it; if he could have gotten a safe 'n cozy non-combat position in the 'States (like, say, the Texas Air National Guard), he’d gladly smear the anti-Vietnam protesters as Communist sympathizers.
