Done for now. Success was only fair. Posted here, Anyone want to do the 2022 Secret Santa? [Last Call, sign-ups end 11/15] - #170 by Bullitt
There appears to be a smiley shortcut that I found by accident. If I place a single colon - either on a line by itself or with spaces before it I am offered smiley choices
The choices appear to be based on recently used smileys (and access to the complete set is also offered). Because I just used the two above, they have been added to my personal shortlist (when I type an isolated colon)
Haven’t quite figured out how this all works yet.

ETA - or why the above are different sizes.
Hey it works! (I don’t mean to roll eyes at your discovery, it was just the only thing in my recently-used list. I guess that says more about me…)
Crazy, dudes! And dudettes!
Playing with images here…
If I have an image in a separate tab and say “copy image”…
If I have an image in a separate tab and copy the URL,…
(so far, so good, but what happens when I hit “Reply”?
ETA: both worked, so why couldn’t I get either to work in the Caption Contest thread? (rhetorical question, unless someone actually knows what I was doing wrong or that there’s something different about that thread or forum)
Man that is so creepy. Well the elf at least. The veggies are pretty cool.
All the liquids being stored sideways has me creeped out.
It’s a lot better than what could be staring at you when you open the refrigerator door (if you’re the don’t-throw-it-out-until-it-erupts type).
Quoting my own post to see how the “quote” parses the pictures…
(removing actual links so I’m not annoying people coming into the thread)
both look like “[” followed by a space, followed by “ ](”, then picture URL followed by “)”
I’m pretty sure what I was trying before didn’t have the spaces by the outside square brackets. I’m going to see if changing that fixes things.
It seems that if they’re on a line with text, or with more than 3 on a separate
line, they’re small.
1-3 on a separate line are big.
This catches me out a lot, i seem to be in the habit of putting a space before
a colon…
Just doing some Pin testing …
Seeing the top post of this thread on a number of unrelated threads at the top, I take it that’s your doing, @What_Exit ?
It’s super confusing, doing a site-wide test like that. And most peeps won’t know this thread’s OP, so it just looks like an unrelated thing. Would have been better IMO to use a dedicated self-explanatory message rather than that one.
ETA: it looks like it’s on every thread.
The pins were all cleared over 30 minutes ago. I have no idea why you’re seeing them now.
On refresh they should be gone. Very odd.
Looks like they’re gone now. But they were on threads I just opened in the last 10 minutes.
The Banner Pin was only on for a minute. I’m guessing a timing issue, but I really don’t know.
I needed to verify how Banner Pin worked vs. Global Pin and write up detailed instructions to add to the Moderator How To. There was no other way to test.
I saw it 2 minutes ago. Now that I’ve cleared it, it’s gone.
I agree with @MrDibble, a test that explained it was a test would have been a lot better. i had some clue what was going on but still found it confusing and a little disorienting.
But what’s done is done.
Sorry if it sounds like I’m giving you grief, I didn’t mean to, I twigged what was going on pretty much immediately but I visit ATMB all the time, not everyone does.
It was more to note for next time that a dedicated thread OP would be a slightly less mysterious test
Fair enough, of course if the software worked how it should have, a minute wouldn’t have mattered.
I saw it but I leave the dope open on my phone because the app is buggy and takes forever to open. So regardless, the next time I checked my phone I would have seen it. As soon as I went to a different page on the dope, it disappeared.
Unless I just happened to randomly check the dope at the exact time it was happening. I suppose that’s possible.
I just saw it again, on a different browser on different hardware. I suspect everyone will see it. Or maybe everyone who was logged in when the test was done. (This browser was logged in.)
I edited the first post of this thread to explain. Hopefully that helps. If anyone has suggestions of a better thing to say in that first post, let me know and I’ll re-edit.
