You have to type something in your reply. In other words, your post cannot contain just the quote from a previous poster.
So, try this:
Hit the reply arrow at the end of the post. Then click on the speech bubble at the top left of the little menu bar inside the box. Then type something. Then hit Reply.
If you’ve aldeady typed something into your post and then hit the quote button or the speech balloon icon it’ll paste whatever you’re quoting wherever your typing cursor happens to be at that moment. Which if you’re not careful can be in the middle of your own words.
You want to make sure your cursor is either at the start or the end of what you’ve already typed and is at the left edge of what will be a new line. If you skip this second part you’ll end up with this mess:
When you’re done you need to ensure that the [quote] and [\quote] tags are each on lines by themselves. So like this:
My words my words
[quote=“Somebody, post:588, topic:956736”]
their words their words their words
[\quote]
more my words more my words
and not like this:
My words my words [quote=“Somebody, post:588, topic:956736”]
their words their words their words
[\quote]
more my words more my words
and also not like this:
My words my words
[quote=“Somebody, post:588, topic:956736”]
their words their words their words
[\quote] more my words more my words
All of this stuff is about 10x harder on a phone than on a larger screen. Just because everything is so tiny on a phone it’s hard to see the bigger picture of what you’re doing. So mistakes are easier to make and hard(er) to correct.
Ok. I am learning. Just because I’ve not worked with the internet other than to browse, does not make me an idiot as someone implied.
Thanks for being helpful.
