Checking the backquotes method

Okay, I was afraid quoting would break the back-quoting, but it’s safe.
What’s your actual goal here? I’m having a hard time divining what you’d hope to accomplish if [whatever] worked the way you wanted it to.
Having a clickable link to a post, while avoiding the back link at the linked post. Because sometimes you want to draw attention to a post, but not to your post linking to it.
Ah. Discourse will fight you tooth and nail on the one. It knows both ends are at Discourse and it really really wants them to link both ways.
I’m not in the mood for frustrating HTML experiments right now; I’m rather more in the mood for dinner. But there might be a way to fool it and I’ll noodle on that a bit and play with it later.
I certainly see the value. My own workaround for your use case is to cite the OP of the thread, then in plain text say something like …
In this thread [link to OP with autogenerated backlink there to here] poster SoAndSo really gets on my nerves starting at post #123. Y’all agree they’re a poopy-head?
From that info, anyone can click your link, press #123[Enter] and be looking at exactly what you’re really referring to. Not so hard.
Which works great unless you’re trying to fuss about something in the OP itself.
Disregard
What are you trying to test? Someone might be able to help.
Trying to post the link with site image and not long address.
Just posting the actual link and not the Google link give this:
I copied the image address of the house to post it:
Then I take that and give it a link with the button.
Nope, that didn’t work. The article preview seems to be the best we can do.
Let’s see if this works: gif…
The test gif worked and I put it here: Happy 4th! Whatcha doin’ today?
Splain how to quote
Trying to quote
OMG.
Heh
Nice!
Keep practicing now that you’re here.
Try quoting an entire post.
Two ways:
•1st way: Hit the reply arrow at the end of the post. Then click on the speech bubble at the top left of the little menu bar inside the box.
•2nd way: Highlight the whole quote and hit the “Quote” in the floating menu that appears.
Then remember to add a space to the end of the quote, or a hypen, so that discourse doesn’t disappear the quote on you.
Otherwise, do like you did yesterday, and just highlight the part of the quote you want to respond to.

Just tried. Clicked on a posters post, word bubble, then it said Post can’t be empty.
