Happy 4th!
I’ll be going with my mom to her usual Thursday evening farmers’ market. We have no idea if the holiday will result in better or worse sales.
Sitting in the waiting room at the local urgent care, waiting to see if I need to get a couple of stitches in my earlobe. (Whacked myself with a pry bar - don’t ask me how, you kinda had to be there.)
I’m sitting at Midway Airport here in Chicago, waiting for my flight to Atlanta on to Huntsville, Alabama, to photograph a Sikh wedding for a colleague of mine. Currently eating overpriced chicken tenders with Buffalo sauce.
Not feeling festive this year, so I’ll be spending some time in the kitchen making yogurt, and maybe some cookies to have for dessert tonight.
Laundry.
Being dragged to going to a BBQ with a bunch of people I dont know, some people I actively don’t like, and some people I do like. Then coming home to listen to every hayseed in the neighborhood set off (illegal) mortars and (illegal) cherry bombs and every other (illegal) firework known to man for hours and hours and hours on end while the local rozzers do jack shit about it, scaring my dog senseless and keeping me from sleeping until about 4 hours past my usual bedtime.
I really don’t like the 4th.
I don’t feel much like celebrating America this year. So nothing.
All the Vs :
- Voting
- Volunteering at HBOT center.
- Vaping.
Taking my younger kid to the hospital to have the cast removed from her arm. (Broke her wrist six weeks ago.)
Sitting inside, watching TV and the weather. Supposed to thunderstorm right in the middle of prime grilling hour, so I’m keeping an eye on it in case I have to oil up the griddle plate for the stove, because these burgers are getting cooked today one way or another.
Mourning the death of the Republic and wondering what the flag of the United States Kingdom will look like.
I am on call for work so I couldn’t go to my cousin’s party in New York. Getting laundry done, unpacking from an Aruba trip, and starting to pack for a Virginia trip mid July.
I love this! I gotta learn to do the vaping thing one of these days.
Same, but will fight another day. Not today.
Meantime, I’m not the least in a mood to celebrate. I hope for a very rare nap later. That will be celebration enough.
It’s crazy hot, already up to 70F, which is nuts here in the PNW. High today predicted at 94F. We’re up into the 100F range for nearly a week.
Good thing there’s no climate change else I’d be concerned. /s
Had a craving for hot dogs so that will be satisfied at dinnertime. I made the most fabulous potato salad yesterday – more of that on the side, along with assorted vegetables. Chocolate zucchini cake – best recipe for cake ever! – for dessert.
Cutting up a downed tree, shopping, updating a website.
Washing sheets, changing the sheets on the bed, and otherwise trying to unwind. Also trying to convince my cat that sitting on my couch with my laptop is not an invitation for him to sit on my chest.
All the Gs
- General Election
- Glastonbury catchup
- Glass or two to celebrate (hopefully)

(Taking my lead from @pjd, obviously)
Just another work day .
You know it makes sense !
