This…so far. I think I went to the head once.
Currently waiting for the spiedies to cook on the grill.
Finishing up a Molsons (friends are on their way with the Sam Adams)
Watching the cat go wild over the catnip.
Enjoying the cool breeze (new screen door! Wheeee!)
Came into work to write my thesis. I’ve been wasting more time on the SDMB than actually working, though.
At 6pm, I will leave and go grill various meats for vigorous consumption.
I usually play by the noon rule. An hour to go.
Nothing planned for the 4th, but I spent the last five days in Bellingham, Washington. I went to the premiere of a movie I worked on.
I’m in Sea town, any chance it will get any play here?
Normally I have no problem with Molson’s, but you should have waited. Drinking foreign brews before the beer of an American patriot, on Independence Day? Un-American.
Me, I’m cleaning the apartment. Later, I’ll walk toward Lake Union in hopes all the spots with a view of the fireworks aren’t already taken up.
So far, mostly argue with my wife.
She wants to do something today. I don’t have any specific desire to do anything but am willing to do whatever she wants (as long as it isn’t going to see fireworks). She won’t tell me what she wants to do. Instead she couches in terms of what I want to do.
“Do you want to go for a drive?” she asks.
“Is that what you want to do?” I respond.
“I don’t know,” and now she’s mad.
So we sit here doing nothing and she grows madder. All she has to do (and I’ve told her this) is say "I want to . . . " and we’ll go do it. But if left to my own devices I am happy sitting on the couch with a book.
I’m going to have a lovely day at work. Maybe I’ll get to hear fireworks in the distance or something.
Man, one time I caught the fireworks from the roof of a houseboat down there. They were right over my head and every time one went off it seemed like they were going to fall on me and fry me like a piggy. And it was sooo packed. I was on a motorcycle and it was still impossible to get through.
I’m probably going to walk over to Kerry park to see the ones over the Sound. I’m right in the middle of both of them, so I’ll probably flip a coin.
Last post was directed at Saltire.
I wish I was in Sea town! (And it would be nice if I could get some “play”, too! snarf)
He’s planning to enter it into some fests, and I know there’s one in SEA. There’s a show at 3B in B’ham on the 15th. It should be out on video in the not-too-distant future.
I got up, meant to go to church, but somehow ended up at Barnes & Noble instead. Wallpapered another wall(this project has been ongoing for 7 months now) with fabric and starch. Went to WholeFoods, the cashier told me I was adorable and that I looked just like Natalie from The Facts of Life(I said thanks, but thought “like I haven’t heard that before”) but I was nice.
Now I’m home, decided that I’m not going to fireworks tonight, but that I’ll just relax for the evening, maybe go rent a movie.
What a thrilling 4th!
I’ve always thought it would be ideal to build a treehouse two-thirds of the way up one of the TV towers on Queen Anne Hill, so you could watch both displays simultaneously. I suppose they wouldn’t let me do that, though.
I usually do Myrtle Edwards park, but I thought I’d try to make it into Gasworks this time. I’ll be on foot, so maybe I’ll be able to make it out alive (and in a reasonable time).
Ya just missed it. I think it ended last week. The Seattle International Film Festival.
Oh well, call up the people over at Sundance, and if they’re all booked call the folks at Slamdance, they are usually a bit less organized. Its a funner bunch than the stuffies at Sundance. They love young, fresh, low-budget stuff. I’m dead serious you should call them. Here’s the site if you don’t know it.
I’m sitting here at work waiting for the drunks to roll in. Kind of quiet now. Not much to do outside today anyway since it’s been raining all day. A lot of frustrated people with unspent fireworks around town tonight I guess.
Yeah, I knew there were a couple that the film was too late for. Lots of festivals around though, and then there’s always next year.
I ran four miles. Then I limped inside and stayed with my dog, who is afraid of the fireworks.
Late last night, so techincally early this morning (2 AM) we went on a walking tour of Revolutionary War sites in NYC. It was organized by the 92nd Street Y, and overall it was a pretty good tour. The only downside was that it started raining about halfway through, so by the end of it, we would huddle under an awning to hear the guide talk about a particular Revolutionary War event, and then race through the rain to peer at whatever it was we were looking at, and then race to the next awning. The tour ended at 6 AM, at which point we went home and slept for most of the day.
We were debating going to watch fireworks this evening, but it rained, and that settled the debate for us (in favor of ice cream and movies).
I slept a lot and had a full pint of Ben and Jerry’s Concession Obsession ice cream. Works for me!
