Ooops - nm

Test [1] and another one [2]
I’m sure i’ll think of a good use for it. Maybe for TLA [3] explanations.

  1. Very interesting ! ↩︎

  2. I like it ! ↩︎

  3. Three Letter Acronym ↩︎

Oh that’s interesting. How’d you do that?

It’s odd… it appears to be for footnotes. If you enter, for example,
Some text ^[Footnote text], you will see how it works for a footnote in
the preview area. But when you post it, it shows as an inline pop-up like it
does here: Some text [1]

It can be set by the Discourse admins to be either a footnote or an inline
pop-up (which appears to be the case here). I don’t know why it shows as footnote in
the preview but inline pop-up in the post. I guess that’s a bug.
IMHO, it would be useful to have both options available instead of either/or.

  1. Footnote text ↩︎

Testing. (didn’t work)

Some text [1]

  1. Footnote text ↩︎

Interesting alternative to a Spoiler. It would be nice if the footnote feature shown in the preview worked.

No space between Caret and the open bracket gives the spoiler effect.
^ [text hidden]

Text can come before, [1] And text can come after.

Normal inline Spoiler: This text will be blurred is more obvious. But an inline note as opposed to a footnote is useful.

  1. text hidden ↩︎

Test post - I haven’t been able to post today.

OK, then. Not sure what’s going on.

Testing an embedded reddit vid

Yes, you can !

I’ve been having trouble posting today, so this is just a test

ETA: It worked! Now to see if I can post actual brilliance in that thread…

A post was merged into an existing topic: “Liked this” appearing when you click the 3 dots to flag a post

Team, what is the tag to use when you want to hide text? Not the spoiler tag, the other one.

You are talking about the Detail tag I think.
On their own line you need the tags [details=“Summary”] [/details]

Summary

You are talking about the Detail tag I think.

Bonus, you can change “summary” to whatever you want.
I do that all the time.

That’s it, thank you!

And there is a third way —> [1]

  1. Hide text in here ↩︎

Although that third way (abuse of the footnote feature) does not work for anything larger than one paragraph. It’s also subject to being wonky if any of our themes are later updated to properly render footnotes as Discourse intended and as preview shows.
