Thanks for that, @What_Exit. Over in the Wordle thread most of us use the spoiler tag each and every day, so we get regular practice with that.

I guess I’ll start using this, since I can’t get the spoiler tags to show up on my phone any more.

Hmm. You can see the drop down tags if you do it BEFORE you type your text.

So, I can still get the below YT link to embed. But if I try to do a timestamped one with a slightly abbreviated URL, it won’t work. Here is the time-stamped version without the leading https://

youtu.be/RQEebJSCYRE?si=xb5GHOW5gQS0yad7&t=63/

What must you do to use that sort of YT link?

It’s all explained here.
Best way is to first switch off preview, then if you’ve tried the url before
you’ll need to change it by adding “&1” (or “&2” or “&3” etc depending how many
tries you’ve had)

If you mean you’re trying to embed a video to start at a specific timestamp, you can’t. At least I’m not aware of any way you can. Embedded videos always start playing from the beginning when played in-thread.

If you right click an embedded video and open it in a new tab, then it should queue up to the timestamp you specified.

Ah, sorry i didn’t get that bit…
But it can be done if you post a clean link without the &1 etc.

Nice!

No good

Trying to post an image from imgur.

EDIT: OK, that worked. It’s not stretched this time.

I notice that when I post an individual image, it’s not stretched. But if I post the album cover it is.

Seems to be a new feature to add footnotes.
How does it work?

Not well.

To add footnotes, click the :gear: and then * Add Footnotes.[3]

Some more lines to test.
second test line.

The preview almost works though.

  1. Second Footnote ↩︎

  2. This is a footnote ↩︎

  3. Looks like this new feature is not working yet ↩︎

How can they be footnotes if they are not in the footer? They’re inlinenotes at best!

It can be set to either inline or footnote as i said here..
(Seems daft.. why not have both as separate options)

If you start to create a test post and look at the preview before you save, you’ll see that in the preview they do appear as numbered footnotes at the end of the post.

They just don’t look that way (at all) in your actual post once you click [Save]. As you say, they’re more inline notes.

I’m guessing here, but I suspect the themes we have may be part of / most of why the footnotes look wacky now.

ETA: @pjd just below has the definitive answer.

The 2 different footnote types are described here.

(Bizarrely, it almost looks ok in the link to What_Exit’s post above
in his post here !!)
