Test thread with Lynx 2.8.3

I’ve always wondered if lynx can be used to post on the boards.

Let’s find out.

Schweet. I bet I’m using the oldest browser on the boards. Well, 2.8.3 came out in 2000, and someone may have a really-old version of IE or Netscape, but this counts, durnit!

Plus it’s a little faster, what with not having to load any images and all.

Netscape 4.0, baby ! (make: 1997)

Looks really bad, though, what with it not recognizing CSS. Glad this is not my usual browser anymore.

I’ve been here with Navigator 2.2 on System 7.5, I think.

Not to mention AOL 2.7 (old school!).

Yeah, but you’re using them fancy graph-eee-cal browsers, and that makes them more advanced, goldangit!

Hrm. I probably should’ve mentioned that I used to dial into the public library and use Lynx that way. Since it was a remote address kind of thing, no prefs were allowed (no cookies, no logging in). I did manage to get into IRC chat, though.

Well, allow me to represent the other end of the spectrum – I’m posting this from my handheld Treo 600.

Peace.

Palm Tungsten C checking in here. New toy for Valentine’s Day, built in WiFi.

I have used Lynx many times to access the SDMB on 150Mhz and less laptops. (Even a 486/33, shudder.) Works pretty well but the design layout is really poorly done so you have to scroll a lot. (Hint to web page designers: keep it simple.)

But I haven’t tried the new version yet. Good to hear it will work.
