Test Your Movie Knowledge!: Part IIII

HF_11: Planes trains and automobiles.
M_B 1 : Everything I needed to know about Wyoming, I learned from John Cazale.

M_B_2 : Everything I needed to know about libraries, I learned from Sean Connery.

M_B_3 : Everything I needed to know about Hamlet, I learned from Danny DeVito.

Mr. Babbington got HF_11 correct.

M_B_1 = Dog Day Afternoon

M_B_2 = Indian Jones & the Last Crusade? The League of Extrodinary Gentlemen?

M_B_2 = Renaissance Man

HF_5: “Everything I learned about knife-fighting, I learned from Sting.”
Dune

HF_10: “Everything I needed to know about Crom, I learned from Arnold Schwarznegger.”
Late Night with Conan the Barbarian
And…

MM_1: “Everything I needed to know about police work, I learned from Kenneth Mars.”

M_B_2 = The Name of the Rose.

I do know the feeling about trying to guess movies that you’ve never seen. You did right well, however.

I have not seen your answer for Z_7, so I can’t say it’s wrong, but it’s not the one I’m after.

Z_11 & 12 are CORRECT

Z_13 is “on the right track” in roughly the right time frame. Additional clue = Jan Michael Vincent.

Z_14 is right. Fun movie if you get a chance to see it.

***** REPOST OF HANGERS *****

Z_2 “Everything I needed to know about unlawful carrying of firearms, I learned from Gene Hackman.”

Z_7 “Everything I needed to know about digging for buried treasure in the yard, I learned from Anthony Franciosa.”

Z_8 “Everything I needed to know about hiding in the shadows and mumbling secrets, I learned from Hal Holbrook.”

Z_9 “Everything I needed to know about no-necked monsters, I learned from Elizabeth Taylor.”

Z_13 “Everything I needed to know about causing a fire in an apartment across the street by shooting a book, I learned from Charles Bronson.”

Might this be Young Frankenstein?

Is this relying on the fact that Shatner played “Hooker” and Jamie Lee was a hooker in “Trading Places”?

Very good, Zeldar!

Z_8 "Everything I needed to know about hiding in the shadows and mumbling secrets, I learned from Hal Holbrook."

Hmmm - “All the President’s Men”?

Bingo, Daddy-o!

My thread shall not presih from this earth, but shall have EVERLASTING LIFE!
All of mine were guessed, Wag the Dog, Death to Smoochy, Good Morning, Vietnam and a Fish called Wanda. Still need to get Mel Gibson and Hostage situations.

From the III thread:

HB_1 Everything I needed to know about roller skates, I learned from Lucille Ball.
HB_2 Everything I needed to know about playing softball, I learned from Dean Cain.

I can’t even guess on these.

I saw one Lucille Ball movie: The Long Long Trailer. I don’t remember skates in it.

If I’ve seen Dean Cain at all, I don’t know of it.

I’d guess from IMDB lists, but that’s all they’d be: guesses, without any basis.

Post some more clues, please. Perhaps I can do better than blind guessing. Somebody else will surely get these two for you.

I’m going to guess at some of your hangers:

Z_2 could be “Unforgiven” (no firearms allowed in Hackman’s town) or “French Connection” (Popeye Doyle’s ankle holster)

Z_9 “The Flintstones”?? John Goodman’s a no-necked monster (yeah, I know - it’s grabbing at straws).

Z_13 “Telefon”? If you posted a clue for “Charley Varrick,” you’ve got to be a sucker for Don Siegel films.

Z_2 is Unforgiven (although I was unsure if Hackman had had similar situations in other films)

Z_9 may be a bit obscure. Think Tennessee Williams. (Not The Flintstones,)

Z_13 Not Telefon. I had to check Siegel’s IMDB page to be sure that I have seen (and enjoyed) many of his things. I know he and Eastwood had a great collaboration over the years and that Unforgiven is even dedicated to Don and Sergio to acknowledge Eastwood’s debt to Siegel. For a little more help on this film, think Jan Michael Vincent.

Got it! “No necked monsters” are children, right? So the film is “Suddenly Last Summer”

HB_1 Lucille Ball is not the actress usually associated with this role. In fact, many people think she was a total miscast in this version of the broadway show turned movie.

HB_2 Dean Cain plays an actor in this ensemble cast movie.

Getting closer! Liz was in that, and it was Williams. And yes, the no-necks were Sister Woman’s brats. That ought to zoom on in for you.

HB_1 must be Mame then.

HB_2 still would be a WAG. Sorry.
