Test Your Movie Knowledge!: Part IIII

A couple of new ones:

Z_15 “Everything I needed to know about visiting crime scenes for literary purposes, I learned from David Duchovny.”

Z_16 “Everything I needed to know about stripping a car’s doors off in a parking garage, I learned from Ryan O’Neal.”

Then I suppose it’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” Ice cream in the face, and all that. Those kids WERE obnoxious.

But I like the cannibal kids in “Suddenly Last Summer” better as an answer. Kid can’t GET more monstrous than that!

That’s the one! I must confess to having a weak memory of “Suddenly Last Summer.” I vaguely recall the cannibalism symbolism, and Laurence Harvey, but that’s about it. I might need to refresh my memory on it.

As for Cat, I loved Burl Ives’s role and was trying to think of something in the way of a clue for him instead of Liz. The names were so great in the movie: Gooper, Big Daddy, Big Mama, Brick, Maggie, etc. I was reminded of my own grandfather when Big Daddy said, “Tell them kids to come on and eat. Over there!”

I don’t think Laurence Harvey was in it. It may be Montgomery Clift you’re remembering. But you ought to revisit this movie. Katherine Hepburn is downright evil. Liz is stunning. And Gore Vidal collaborated with Tennessee Williams in adapting the play to the screen. Definitely worth your time!

HB_1 was Mame! Good work, Zeldar.

MonkeyMensch got HF_5 and HF_11 right.

Hangers:

HF_2: “Everything I needed to know about William Shatner I learned from Jamie Lee Curtis.” <—Tricky!
Okay, maybe I should have said “the likeness of William Shatner”, i.e. a mask. It’s a bit of movie trivia that I think is pretty funny.

Yes, my memory is even worse than I thought! Harvey was in “Summer and Smoke” at around that same period. And I always think of Clift and Taylor in “A Place In The Sun” and “Raintree County” (near the time of his wreck) to the exclusion of anything else.

I guess I’d better start getting Netflix to catch me up on these, if they can.

Did you see my guess on “Trading Places” by way of the “Hooker” connection?

I_L_8 “Everything I needed to know about being a streetsmart cop who doesn’t play by the rules, gets in hot water with his captain but gets the job done, I learned from Joe Don Baker”

Mitchell

HB_4 Everything I needed to know about yacht ownership, I learned from Tony Curtis.

HF_11: “Everything I needed to know about the devil’s playthings, I learned from Devon Sawa.”

HF_12: “Everything I needed to know about about running from cats, I learned from Michael J. Fox.”

HF_13: “Everything I needed to know about coming out, I learned from Kevin Kline.”

Interesting connection. Ummm, no. It’s not Cpt. Kirk, it’s a likeness of his face. A mask. And a big knife.

“Some Like It Hot”

HF_13 is In&Out

Horseflesh Nailed mine, Jim Belushi was K-9.

I_L_6 is not Ransom.

Is it a Halloween movie, Horseflesh?

Got it in one, Labdad.

I_L_6 Road Warrior? But I guess that was more of a seige situation.

HB_5 Everything I needed to know about lawn care, I learned from Brendan Fraser.

Yup. That was Cpt. Kirk/TJ Hooker/The Big Giant Head’s rubbery likeness Jamie Lee Curtis was running from all night. They painted it white and teased out the hair.

Ilsa_Lund is correct on In and Out.
