Hey, isn’t that witnessing?
And ironically, I too can see the Greek letters in every font there except for the one specifically designed for Greek letters. Mozilla, OSX. This is an issue I’ve been rather annoyed about for a while now, but it seems that “it’s a feature, not a bug”, so there’s not much hope of a fix.
As I’ve noted before, the fact that fonts like Symbol display incorrectly is, in fact, correct. Rendering Symbol correctly would be incorrect, because the font itself is just broken. Needless to say, MSIE incorrectly displays it correctly, leading people to believe, incorrectly, that it should display correctly.
I’m seeing rectangles where I think I should be seeing accented characters in your fourth post. I’m running OS X. All the different browsers give me the same result, with the exception of IE, which puts ~s and `s there instead. IE also displays everything in your second and third posts wrong.
Incorrect. What you mean to say is that it is not incorrect to not render Symbol, but it is not incorrect to render it correctly. And even the first part of that I would dispute, since one of the driving principles of the HTML standards is forwards and backwards compatability, so the fact that Symbol once was correct means that it should still be correct.
I too am seeing some boxes where accented letters should be, incidentally.
