Testing horizontal rule

I’ve noticed some posts have a non-quote horizontal rule in them, and I’m guessing that it’s due to closing an unopened quote, with a [[sup][/sup]/quote] tag. Testing this theory:

[/quote]

Can it be used multiple times?

[/quote]

What if there’s

Can I put in another one?

[/quote]

Cool, yet another trick we can do. I hope that if they ever fix these “bugs”, that they implement them as regular features.

You’ve been here a while. Guess there’s always something new to learn.

So you just do this
[/quote]

and it gives you a line?

That

is

way

cool!

lines…

lines…

lines…

BUT WHAT DO THEY MEAN!?!?!?!?!?!?

Come to think of it, an end code tag should work, too…

Like that.

Of course, if you do it that way,

You should be able to embed it in a quote.

.

The real test, I suppose, would be overlapping the two:

Quote terminated

Code terminated. Let's see about this...

Interesting, it seems that a [[sup][/sup]/code] tag will terminate a [[sup][/sup]quote] tag, but not vice-versa. Chalk it up to yet another oddity of vB.

Ahem.

For the record, it was I who discovered the utility of the [ /quote] tag as a horizontal rule, thanks to a mistake by Mr. Zambezi in Being a socialist in america, which I illustrated in post #587664. (The link should take you straight to the post.)

I use the technique often to separate portions of posts, or to block off quoted segements other than quotes from posters.

Credit where it’s due, of course, Lib. I hadn’t realized that anyone else was doing this deliberately; I tip my hat.

Is that where the Dorm Mother makes you keep one foot on the floor at all times a girls in the room?
