Testing Pix, Round 2

Let’s try this test now with a bit more elaboration on the server side. You should get a photo of Elvira Mistress of the Dark if you select the link.

Do you?

End of Test

Giddy Up, Oom Poppa Oom Poppa Mow Mow.

I got her!

I clicked it during a power surge and got this.

Rickroll senses tingling…I can’t bring myself to click it!

Yep.

Cool, how did you do that?

Am I missing something? He just posted a link didn’t he?

I think there’s a script for the greasemonkey browser plugin that will fetch and insert linked images (entirely independently of the board server)

That won’t work on this user’s tests. While saying they are links to pics, they are in fact links to web pages. The script looks for links ending with .jpg, etc. If it tried to “insert” material from a link ending in .html, all sorts of horrible things would happen.

BTW, ASGuy, here’s a link to the pic.

Nothing sophisticated going on here. I built a simple web page with the Elvira image and placed it on my ISP’s server. Then used regular vB coding to link to it. See the “FAQ - Technical issues for posting” thread in this forum for the coding example.

What’s your goal with all these tests? You can include a url to anything anywhere in a post. Some flavors of tapatalk will fetch and render urls to pix as the actual pic displayed inline. Most (all?) browsers won’t. Thank goodness.

If you’re hoping to include visible pix inline in your posts the board is set up to make that real hard bordering on impossible to do. Unless somebody helps you with a cooperative tool on their end such as a greasemonkey script.
