Why is it that on some LCD monitors, while I am scrolling through text, that text changes color to red (instead of black) until it comes to a halt again?
My theory is that somehow the text is moving so fast that a pixel-triplet that was going to be white only has time to activate the red portion of the triplet before the black text moves in to halt the activation.
Certainly sounds like some kind of trailing problem such as you describe, and yes, probably caused by difference in the reaction times of one set of pixels. Try it with scrolling text in each of the primary and secondary colours; if you’re right, then perhaps blue or cyan text will disappear almost entirely until stationary.
It could also be an example of Fechner colors, too. You can view an example of it here. Of course, you need regular patterns for this, so it’s a bit of a long shot, but I figured I’d mention it 'cause it’s so nifty.
