Yeah so that title pretty much sums it up, from the massive to the mundane, whether they be just the little things or the lifechaning moments thank people here.
Mine’s just a little one; I thank the bus driver who let me get away with hitting the stop button for the wrong stop when most drivers make you get off even if it was an accident. Thanks, you saved me a long, cold walk.
I’d like to thank the complete stranger who helped my fiancee & I when we ran out of gas. I was driving her car, and didn’t realize that the red gas light meant that we’d have about 1 minute of driving before being completely empty - it was a bit faulty. We were only a few miles from her place at this point.
We were stuck at a crowded red light, on a very steep uphill incline, in the left turn lane. About the worst possible place to be stuck. This guy stopped, parked in the lot nearby, ran over and helped me maneuver the car out of the mess of honking cars to the side of the street. Then he jumped into the car of another guy who stopped to help after we moved, and brought us back a few gallons of gas so we could make it to a gas station. We had been having a VERY long & tiring day of driving through traffic to pick out her engagement ring and running out of gas was just the thing to top the day off.
He really made our day and I wish I could have helped him more in some way. He was trying to start out a charity for boys without fathers in the area, and was also an aspiring cookie chef. So I got him in contact with the promo department of the radio stations that I work at but they weren’t able to get a hold of him to help him out. He sent some cookies samples here and the local celebrity chef loved them but his cell phone was disconnected when they tried to call him back. I felt bad when I heard that but I guess I did all I could to help get him started w/ that charity.
Another car-related story. On the highway between Boulder and Denver my pickup broke down. I was walking to the nearest exit, about 2 miles away, when a nice old couple pulled over and gave me a ride the rest of the way. It meant a lot to me because I’m a big scary long-haired bearded type, that most mothers pull their children away from when we pass. For this old couple to take a chance like that meant a lot to me.
