I was only flipping between the game and something else last night but I figure that any offensive coordinator that does nothing but run the ball in an effort to kill the clock when running hasn’t worked all game needs to be fired - and quick.
It’s hard to put the blame on any one person, that’s the problem. Matt Leinart called an audible that blew the pass coverage and there was a fumble returned (or so I’m told, I missed that part), Edge fumbled, the kicker missed, the coaches made mistakes, and Urlacher himself said the Offensive line stopped blocking him.
Maybe having a quarterback that basically never lost (If he did lose, he didn’t beat himself) in college will help the Cardinals down the road, I don’t know.
But in sports in general, I have to tip my hat to my beloved Royals, who on August 23, blew a 10-1 1st inning lead to lose a game to the Indians, 15-13.
I may be the only Cardinals fan on this board. I was not happy when I got an email informing I had to be at a mandatory training class at work at 7:30 in the AM on the day after the Cards first Monday night appearance in 7 years.
Still, I watched the first half, then fell asleep at the start of the second half. I have a 45 minute drive to work and knew I’d never stay awake.
I couldn’t believe what happened when I woke up and saw the lowlights.
This team will find any way possible to lose. Remember, that crazy St. Louis game was just a few weeks ago.
I can actually deal with getting blown out. But, throwing away two games like this? I’m way too young to have to deal with heart problems.
Greatest choke ever? Like others in this thread, I hope you’re referring to the Bears. The Cards shouldn’t have lost that game, but the Bears shouldn’t have been in a position where they could lose. The Bears looked absolutely ridiculous out there. I hope whatever they were doing, they stop by next week. Or else this season might morph into something long and painful.
Not Sm ith. MSU has snatched defeat from victory like no other team could. No lead is safe. Sometimes it is like watching a slow motion train wreck. The darkness at the end of their tunnel is always there.
Man, that was a RANT. It’s up there with Jim Mora and Herman Lewis. Not quite up there with John L., though. Dan Patrick had the entire clip, and there’s this PR guy going, “Thanks, Coach!” in this chipper voice.
Not sure how Grossman goes to the podium smiling. He should have been pissed off the way Green was. Hideous game on his part.
Well, I agree the OP needs to add ‘football’ somewhere in his title to make it true. But you need to add ‘single-game’ to your statement, or Derek, Alex, Joe and a bunch of other guys wearing 2004 pinstripes are going to have to set you straight.
[Once again, the Royals are outdone by the Yankees]
Hmm- thirty-three posts and everyone has missed the point. The problem with the Arizona Cardinals [one of the worst sports franchise nicknames ever BTW] is the owner.
Bill Bidwill is a loser, plain and simple. The franchise will never win anything until Bidwill is gone. New city, new coach, new offensive coordinator, new stadium, new quarterback- nothing will change the AZ Cardinals woeful fortunes without new ownership.
As a Bears fan, I kind of felt dirty after we stole that game last night. We deserved to lose, just so that the Chicago sports columnists can stop asking “16-0?” in every friggin’ column they write.
Probably true, but since I don’t live there anymore and in fact was already long gone before the Rams arrived, all it did for me was take my NFL team away.
The single worst play of the game: Oliver Ross making no effort whatsoever to stop Mark Anderson from forcing Leinart’s fumble for a TD. He just stood there. Wow.
I don’t know, the way the Bears were playing offense the Cards could probably have started kneeling every play at the end of the third quarter and won. This wasn’t a Martyball situation; they were up 20 points at the end of the 3rd quarter against an offense who were being historically terrible. The only way Chicago had a chance to come back was with turnovers like they got.
